Tudor House Open Today!…and tomorrow, to coincide with Hastings’ Jack In The Green procession.
Out comes the green face-paint, woodland folk, giants, wicker-men, antler headdresses, ravens and pre-Raphaelite tresses of hair entwined with flowers and green leaves – and Jack: part man, part bush, and accompanied by his equally leafy escorts, the Bogies, and Black Sal, his be-flowered consort. Hastings loves dressing up, and this May bank holiday procession accompanied by drums and violins puts on an extraordinary pagan spectacle. The four-day event, steeped in folklore, celebrates the coming of summer and attracts Morris dancers from all over the country, culminating in a ceremony called the slaying of the Jack – so to release the spirit of the summer.

They’ve all gone off to sea.
We have everything for your tub: bath and body brushes; pumice and soap dishes; candles and soap; and we even have the salvation of sea. Shop online here or get yourself to Hastings this Easter for a visit to us, the beach, the white horses and sea!
Yours to buy! We have only a handful left of these elegant Edwardian folding chairs, which were purchased some years back directly from the church hall in Winchelsea, East Sussex. The ones left have been reduced, as they have a few minor imperfections.
