Some excellent tips from CAMHS on how to best look after your child’s mental health.

kicks off tomorrow! There are lots of fab activities online. If you google ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ the team behind the project has created an assembly pack and lots of free resources for you to download to do with your children! Meanwhile take a look at some of these pics and aim to focus on putting the spotlight on our children’s mental wellbeing this week!

KS2 PSHE activity! Discuss each dilemma with your child. What would they do? Discuss their choices. What would be the best decision? What would the implications to their actions be? Extend this to writing a short story extract like the example in the second post. Do post any feedback or if you have a go at writing!

A Diamond Poem!
These are ideal to explore word classes with children. The structure is - a noun, 2 adjectives, 3 verbs, a noun phrase, 3 verbs, 2 adjectives and finally a noun. Have a go at writing your own about snow, day/night, the sea, nature whatever you fancy!

A couple of PE activities for the children to try out at home!

Phase 5 Phonics activity for Y1’s! Show your child the different ways to spell ‘ay’ . 1) Can they think of any words with the ay phoneme? . 2) Now sort out the words at the bottom into the correct place. Some words (last line) are ‘pseudo’ words (not real) children are expected to use their phonics knowledge to read these words too!
3) Try and write a sentence with the ay words. It can be a silly/funny sentence. 😄 Eg The crayon went to play in Spain. You can do this activity for pretty much all the Phase 5 phonemes! Do comment below if you give it a go!

Calling Y5/6 Parents! Have a go at this great game for learning spellings produced by KS1- your children can also try this out but write your own words they are finding difficult to spell on post it notes! Let them see them for 1 min then take them away. How many can they remember to spell? Start with showing 5 words at first.
