It’s strange now, thinking back to my first instagram post. At the time I Just wanted to reach out, totally incognito… just to ‘see’ if there was a space that felt right to me. I couldn’t have foreseen what the next 2 years would hold. So much has happened, so much has changed… and all as a direct result of those first few, very hesitant posts. Cotton and oak has its own identity now, and as much as I am still very much part of that, and it of me, I’ve decided to create a separate account which is dedicated just to my other passions - if you know me at all, you already know what they are. so if you have followed me in the past for my little wanders up a hill or around a lake, I now have a totally new account and if you’d like to keep up with what I’m up to in my free time (especially if you are close to Bolton and are interested in the local walks) please do give it a follow. It’s nothing special … just another little step forward into the unknown. 😁 Let’s see where this one leads to! You never know, I may be waving down from K2 this time next year!! 🤷🏻‍♀️🏔️ If the products are the reason for the follow, then hang tight, there is a lot to come over the next few weeks and months, and I am excited about this next phase. As many of you are aware, I opened my Cotton & Oak shop almost a year ago. Much has happened in that year! Whilst the demand in “Homewares" - candles; melts; vases etc - has be consistent, it’s the "Home-Styling" & the artificial flower arrangements; - that seems to have really connected with you guys (and poss not a coincidence that this is my really passion) … so this is the direction Cotton & Oak will be taking, along with intimate wedding and event styling. *****. Less reliant on a traditional shop-window, Cotton & Oak is moving to my beautiful garden studio at home - I know, right 😀🙌 - as well as (finally) online. I would LOVE you to follow me on this journey. I will be available on a “by appointment” basis, you can get to me on social media and/or, just give me a call. ****. The great news for you-lot is that the items not going with me to the garden studio - candles; diffusers; melts; vases; oils etc, will be up to half-price off until the end of February, when the shop will close. I’ve lost count of how many conversations I’ve had in the shop which include the sentence “well I know what I want for Christmas now!” , so I thought I would make life a little easier for those that love you to pick out exactly the right gift. Next time youre in the shop, pick up one of the new Gift Wish List Cards. Pop your name on whilst you are browsing and list as many items as you like. I will keep them in my little box of wishes behind the counter. Then, send your loved ones my way. They just need to ask for your card and et voila! No-one is getting disappointed this Christmas morning on my watch! 🌟

Saturday reflections: well we are getting in to cosy mode aren’t we!! Pampas, candles, wax melts, wreaths and little luxuries for the bath seem to be your ‘go to’ items this week. Can’t say I blame you at all. They all made an appearance at my house too. Moral of the story is that summer has its moments, but we know that as soon as the leaves start to fall and the nights draw in, there’s no place quite like home. If you’ve pick up some goodies from the shop, and your trying them out for the first time tonight, I’d love to hear about it. For me there is simply nothing nicer than to hear how much you are enjoying the little luxury’s I’ve picked out for you. Wishing you a wonderful weekend. See you soon. H x

Saturday reflections: it’s becoming a habit now, settling down after a long week and counting my blessings. I’m always a day late to the weekend party, but here it is… in all it’s blissfully relaxing glory. There’s been a beautiful vibe in the shop this week. Too many things to post about, but I don’t know if the moons in…(insert the correct position here), but lots of us feeling like we’re pushing a large boulder up a hill, backwards. Im just letting you know that your not on your own. Me too. But we know that Unless we have these moments, we can never truly appreciate the good days. Am I right cottonandoakists!?!? Hold your nerve and keep the faith… and know that there’s always a spot on my shop sofa for a chat and a giggle. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and looking forward to seeing you soon. Hx

This weeks is exactly 1 year since I popped a somewhat naive and cautious head out into the scary new world of Instagram, and it honestly was the start of a whole new chapter in my life. I had no idea what the next 12 months had In store and Oh my days!!! It’s possibly a good thing as im not sure I’d have been up for the challenge. A LOT has happened, Some good, some not so much, but an awful lot of experiences, people and new friendships that I’d now not trade for the world. Above everything, I’ve returned to myself, but with a new confidence that can only ever come from building a life on your own… and im as happy as I could be right now because of it. Thank you for your ongoing support, as ever it means the absolute world… and it’s also time for an exciting additional chapter to unfold… so watch this space for that. Here’s to the next 12 months.

Ela life restock alert 🚨 I know how much you guys love so I have added to the range AGAIN. We have all your favourites back in stock, including one of the shops Hero products - the Begin candle - but we have added Hand wash, hand and body wash, and a hand and body lotion, as per your requests. I like to encourage you to try the products, so everything is available to test here in the shop. And if you are looking for a special celebration gift, of just getting started early on the Christmas gift ideas, there are some lovely pre-made up gifts sets, but I’m happy to make something especially for you from across all of the product ranges. Meet The Annabelle’s. I watch these beautiful ladies change every season. From early spring as they start to emerge from their winter slumber, through the early summer months as their fresh new green heads arrive. Into mid and late summer when they show their most majestic side, and then through into autumn when the colour fades to a beautiful straw colour. But this time of year is the show-stopper phase.
