Newbury Lions Fabulous Fireworks

Lots of planning taking place towards our fabulous fireworks on November 2nd at Newbury Racecourse!
We are always looking for volunteers to help set up on the day and clear up on the Sunday so if you can spare an hour or so get in touch!
We are keen to support local independent businesses in our food court so drop us a message if you are interested!
Tickets should be on sale from the middle of September, so keep checking here for the on sale dates!.🦁

We have a pair of gloves with a distinctive insect on the top of them and a child's jacket both left in the Grandstand last night. If you think they might be yours get in touch with the description and hopefully we can get them back to you!

Thank you to everyone who supported our event last night! By buying a ticket you were giving to the community as well as having a great time.
Thank you for all the kind comments as you were leaving. We are a small team with great volunteer help on the night and we appreciated your smiles and thanks!

Just reassurance that the Display WILL be going ahead on Saturday!
Hopefully the rain in the forecast won't be too heavy and remember car parking and viewing area is all on hardstanding. There is plenty of shelter on the Grandstand steps and lots of things going on inside the Grandstand!
Did I mention Berkshire Youth will be there with a bouncy castle, and Mr. Muddle's Magical Mayhem will be as funny and entertaining as always! All this plus more is inside the Grandstand! You can grab something to eat or drink at one of our many concessions spread around the sides and back of the Grandstand as well!

If you come to our display not only will you be having a great time but you will helping our local community by supporting our Lions Welfare Fund. We use our welfare fund to provide items for families in need of a little extra help 🦁
We have a fabulous food choice this year from traditional burgers, patties and hot dogs, fish and chips and loaded fries through to Indian street food and a noodle bar.
A great Gin Bar plus our own bar also awaits.
For those of you with a sweet tooth there will be cakes and speciality coffee vans and children's favourite sweets and ice cream available.

We work hard with our partners to try and make both arrival and departure to this event as smooth as possible and we are very grateful to Newbury Racecourse for their help in this.
As you can imagine the arrival of approximately 1,500 cars is staggered over 2 hours but with the same number of cars leaving all at the same time at 8pm there will inevitably be delays!
One suggestion is stop and have a coffee or a bite to eat after the fireworks to give a little extra time before heading to the car.
For those of you having to queue to leave we are sorry for your delay getting home and thank you for your patience.

Thank you to everyone who came last night and enjoyed an amazing display!
Thanks to the many volunteers both Lions and other charitable organisations that helped make everything run as smoothly as possible.
Special thanks to those who were there from 8 am yesterday morning, it was a long damp day for some!
All proceeds, once costs are covered, go into our Welfare Fund which gives straight back in to our local community so your support is very important to us as it enables us to help those around us in need.
We are sorry that there were delays leaving the car park but the car parking is not under the control of Newbury Lions Club.
Next year will be our 50th year giving Newbury our Fabulous Fireworks. We hope you will come again and help make it extra special as we will hope to have a few extra special things happening too!

You will be aware of the rail strike on 5th November that was publicised in October.
This is a quick reminder that we are opening our gates at 5pm (30 minutes earlier than last year) to enable plenty of time for you to get into the Racecourse.🦁
Remember there is more than ample free carparking available at the Racecourse!
