Uilebheist: Highlands and Islands IoD Sustainability Event
Our David Cameron and Michael Macdonald, the team behind the Uilebheist Project were delighted to have attended the first in-person IoD event since Covid at Glen Mhor Hotel and Uilebheist Distillery. Always good to visit one of our projects as a customer for a change and brilliant to see it in full flow (no pun intended 😀 ).
Special thanks to the Institute of Directors (IoD), Saffery , Ri Cruden Ltd Mechanical, Electrical & Renewables-ltd and Victoria Erasmus of Uilebheist Distillery for organising and to all the speakers, some eye opening stories and discussions about the challenges and solutions local companies face to work towards a Carbon Zero future, not only in the construction industry.
Here are a few more images of our design for the Tomatin Distillery Visitor Hub. Can't wait to see this progress through the next design stages.
We're delighted to be have submitted a Planning Application for the new Tomatin Distillery Visitor Hub. See recent article in the P&J for more information: https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/highlands-islands/6293187/tomatin-distillery-plans-for-visitor-centre/

We are pleased to be nearing completion on this purpose-built contemporary extension to the historic Burghfield House building at the Dornoch Campus for North Highland College UHI.
The 1 and 2 storey design features include a feature glulam timber post colonnade; glazed entrance screen and foyer. The interior features a flexible classroom space with folding walls that allow the whole ground floor to be opened up to the entrance foyer for seminars and events.
The building’s envelope features windows from NorDan UK, secret fixed open-board Accoya cladding from Russwood and Greencoat standing seam metal cladding from Lindab Group; natural materials that help provide warmth and a recognisable human scale to the development. We have very much enjoyed working closely with our client North Highland College UHI and contractor O’Brien Construction to bring this development to fruition.

We are delighted to accept the Inverness Architectural Association Placemaking award for the An Talla visitor centre at Dochgarroch, Inverness. It was a pleasure to design and deliver this development and the wonderful reception it has received from the public is testament to the vision and commitment of our client Loch Ness by Jacobite.
We are also extremely grateful to the design and construction teams who collectively went the extra mile to make this a truly special project. We hope that it will be loved for years to come.

Having monitored the emerging government guidance in relation to COVID 19 we have decided to take the precautionary measure of permitting our staff to work from home, this is not mandatory although the majority of staff see this as a prudent step. We already utilise software that facilitates the operation of the office hardware and software systems remotely and are today rolling out that software to all staff. There will no doubt be some settling down of this arrangement for us to experience however, in theory, our capabilities are in no way diminished. All staff are recording workload and resource requirements to apprise management in order appropriate resource allocation decisions can be taken.
Should we experience any disruption to delivery of our services, we will keep you fully informed.
Please continue to contact us via our normal office email addresses.
Colin Armstrong Architects wish you all a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for 2020 🎅🤶
