Caths Garden Plants recommends 3 varieties of plants to make your garden look summery even if the weather is dull 🌸

These herbaceous perennials originate in South Africa & can provide splashes of colour in a reasonably well-drained border. All flower better in sun but can cope with some shade.

Kniphofia ‘Rich Echoes’ produces rich apricot-yellow flowers on dark bronze stems & flowers twice in June/July & Sept/Oct reaching 60cm tall. Photo shown.

Crocosmia ‘Fever Pitch’ has upward facing funnel-shaped bright, fiery-red flowers over unusual pleated leaves reaching about 60 cm tall. Attractive to bees & SLUG RESISTANT. Not invasive like Montbretia.

As a contrast, Agapanthus ‘Navy Blue’ AGM produces rounded heads of rich midnight-blue trumpet-shaped flowers from mid-late summer. Agapanthus ‘Poppin’ Purple’ PBR has rounded dark purple almost black buds & flowers from mid-summer to autumn. Protect with a thick mulch over winter. Harmful if eaten.

Create a coloured glass bauble, paperweight, vase or pumpkin in a truly unique and educational glass blowing experience in Britain’s last working luxury crystal factory.

Experiences are delivered in small groups with one-on-one tuition when it is your turn. You will select colours, melt them into the glass at 1200C and learn how to form and blow the glass to create your piece. Suitable for children 8+ years.

Cubby Joinery refurbished the second floor of Gretna Hall Hotel 🔨

Cubby Construction is excited to announce we recently completed an entire refurbishment of the second floor of Gretna Hall Hotel, Gretna Green.

Comprised of seventeen ensuite rooms including five new signature suites. The works consisted of demolishing all existing rooms, setting out and installing partitioning for the new rooms. Cubby Joinery assisted this project by manufacturing a range of bespoke products including certified fire doors, wardrobes, bedside tables, armoires, shaker panelling and vanity units for each room.

The finished look extends the comfort and elegance of the venue, allowing the client to offer their guests a premium hospitality experience for any occasion.

Welcome to this month's new Made in Cumbria member Jenny Woolgar Photography 📸

Jenny is excited to join the group and get to know you and your businesses. She's a Carlisle-based photographer covering Cumbria and Dumfries & Galloway. Her experience includes working for Cumbria Life and Carlisle Living magazines. Jenny started my own business eight years ago and has enjoyed a variety of projects since.

Recently, she's refreshed a business centre's website imagery and photographed holiday lettings made from shipping containers. She's also been capturing product images for a local food store, showcasing their delicious offerings.

Playdale Playgrounds 🛝 were tasked with the design and build of a major playground project at Cannon Hall Farm, South Yorkshire. The project was executed in two phases with the first phase completed in 2023.

There were challenges to this project that were slightly different to other projects Playdale Playgrounds had worked on previously. The team remained aware of the potential for noise disruption, considering the installation's location on a working farm.
