What a delight to be back at this year! TYJO were out in full swing yesterday afternoon bringing some sunny Sunday jazz to the riverside in our hometown of Kingston, amongst the FUSE programme of incredible young people from all over the world!

Next up is the TYO summer concert which will be next Saturday 13th July, 7.30pm at St Andrews Surbiton, with an absolutely jam-packed programme of film music!

A delight to return to Christ Church Sheen last night for our Spring concert! It was an English music extravaganza, ft Ferguson and Dodgson in the first half, honouring Dodgson’s centenary and the launch of the new Dodgson book featuring a chapter from our very own Simon Ferris! And then a bombastic second half with Vaughan Williams’ masterpiece - Job: A Masque for Dancing, ft the evocative artwork from William Blake 🤩 Well done TYO for this momentous programme - and the musical weekend doesn’t end there as we head now to Bulls Head Barnes where TYJO will be performing their annual concert of Sunday afternoon jazz! 🎶🎵🎷

What an epic concert tonight! Well done everyone for some brilliant playing, bringing atmosphere and excitement to the cold winter weekend!

Looking forward to starting a new set of repertoire on Monday - any newbies are welcome to along for a trial rehearsal!

Starting 2024 with a bang! The concert has begun, kicking off our Finnish programme with Uuno Klami’s Suomenlina Overture! 🇫🇮🎶

After an outrageous number of delays on the journey back (including 4hrs at Calais…!) - we’re back! What a week it’s been, with so so much to celebrate - and here are the recipients of this year’s tour awards, all of whom have helped to make this such a wonderful tour! (With Henry kindly representing all of Team Trumpet 🎺) It has been an absolute delight spending the week with such an awesome community of young musicians, whose friendship and camaraderie is an inspiration to all and shines through in their sparkling music-making ✨ TYO and TYJO will be reunited *next weekend* for our post-tour concert at All Saints Church Kingston on 9 September, followed by TYJO’s return to the Classic Boats Festival on Sunday 10 September at , and then first TYO rehearsal of the year on Monday 11th - invite your friends, and we hope to welcome lots of new and passionate young musicians to our ensembles for this new year! 🤩

What a showstopper of a performance to end the tour! 🤩🤩 World class musicianship from the band, and joy & dancing in the audience - the vibes were high! 💃🏽 The long journey home now begins as we continue to ride the wave of positivity from an incredible week abroad - and we can’t wait to reprise this music in the UK next weekend for our post tour concerts!

The joys of tour 🤩 United through music, we see the friendships form and the strong sense of community and support embedded in the orchestra. Yesterday was the final orchestral concert of tour, with lots of celebrations (and a showstopping performance from Charlotte on flute!), and now e we are visiting the mountain state of San Marino 😍

It’s at this mid-way point in tour that the magic really starts to happen ✨ A wonderful concert tonight, with Hannah’s stunning concerto performance of Elgar’s Romance 👏🏽👏🏽 There were moments of magic and finesse throughout the programme, emerging from the intensive musical immersion of the tour experience; plus the joy of new friendships and unforgettable cultural experiences - including two UNESCO World Heritage sites over the next two days…!

We survived the heat last night and put on our first orchestral concert in Cesena - and WOW what a show! Huge congrats to Eoin for his superstar performance - we can’t wait to reprise the Finzi in our post-tour concert when we return! 🤩

We’re in Cesena for our first out of two Cesena concerts! Currently having group pizza in the main square ahead of our first orchestral concert in the Chiesa de San Agostino at 2100, ft a clarinet concerto from Eoin - very exciting!

HUGE congrats to TYJO for their first gig of tour!! Absolutely incredible playing in the Cortile di Palazzo Pretorio in Terra del Sole, with some outstanding solos, gutsy playing and an ensemble sound that filled the beautiful courtyard space! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

A lovely afternoon in our local town of Forlì, seeing some of the old town, eating piadine (& for some - a treat of bubble tea! 🧋)

We’re off to the mountains now, heading to Terra del Sole for our first big band gig 🎺🎷

We’re heading off on tour to Italy on Thursday for a jam-packed of music-making and sightseeing, including an exciting programme featuring concerto pieces from three of our Year 13 players! And we’re excited to confirm that when we return we will be bringing our tour programme back to the UK, starting with a concert at All Saints Church in Kingston on the 9th September, and then the following day returning to for the annual Classic Boats Festival where TYJO will be playing some afternoon jazz! 🎶

We’re heading off on tour next week with five exciting concerts in Italy - including this one in Terra del Sole!
