What a roller coaster of emotions. After doing well to beat the keeper, our player has nothing to do but hit the target in front of an open goal. Failing to do so, leads to a moment of heartbreak, but not one that lasts for long, as the man in blue perfectly calculates the trajectory of his wayward rebound, getting under it for an easier headed finish.

If there’s 2 things that you can do to infuriate your opposition, it’s of course score a goal, and flaunt your cheekiest moves to show them how effortless the game is for you. When you can combine the 2, the mental war is won, and as is likely the game, but it takes a special kind of player to pull it off.

This one’s not a screamer in the traditional sense, but it did have us screaming with laughter! 😂 After taking an awkward bounce, our player decides to channel is inner Fifa Street, and use his shoulder to take the ball. At which point, we’re not sure whether this is an example of pure chance, or footballing genius; using some skilful freestyling to dumfound both himself and the opposing defender… The wide grin suggests it’s the former, but we’re impressed none the less!

What makes for a more satisfying goal? An incredible solo run finished with excellence, or a silky-smooth bit of teamwork that creates the opportunity for a tidy end product? We love to see them both, but it’s clear that this team have been researching in the playbook of the latter, and it’s truly paid off!

On first glance, this is an absolute worldie of a strike, but it doesn’t take long to realise this swerving effort was in fact a pass back that was simply destined to nestle in the top corner. It’s a disappointment to score any kind of own goal, but if you’re going to do it, why not make it a Sunday Screamer?

After a perfectly weighted ball with a lovely tough of swazz to drop the attacker in behind, he holds the ball up perfectly as he waits for support to arrive. With a pin-point pullback into the path of his colleague who charges in towards the edge of the box, our goal scorer decides no touch is needed as he strikes the ball cleanly first time to rocket it past the keeper.

After a somewhat disappointing affair against our local rivals last week, we can only look to the past for some inspiring moments of footballing genius. In doing this, we dug up this beauty from the archives which, at first glance, we thought was Gascoigne’s phenomal goal against the Scots back in 96. After putting on our glasses, we realised this was just some equally beautiful individual football from one of Sunday League’s finest.

Audacious, bold, genius. After gliding between two players – granted, with a little bit of good fortune – the man in red composedly cushions a bobbling ball as he looks up to see a goalkeeper off his line. Taking a moment to think, he calculates the exact leverage needed to float the ball over the keeper, but under the crossbar. As a result of his genius calculation, the player puts just enough loft to squeeze the ball between the keeper and the goalposts as if it were a thread through a needle.

We love to see one-in-a-million type goals, and sometimes it just seems like there’s a higher power on your side to help them happen… or just a strong gust of wind. Either way, there’s no taking away from the fact that this is a great goal, and whilst the keeper in green seems to get caught on his heels, the long-range kick is more than just a hoof, it’s a hoof with devastating accuracy.

This is one straight out of the Wenger playbook. With a triad of players combining to quickly waltz the ball through a dazzled defence, we can’t decide what’s more impressive; the individual skill, or the hive-mind level chemistry.

Whip, dip, pinpoint accuracy, and enough power to have the keeper heading to pick the ball out of the net before he even sees it cross the line… everything you could ever want from a freekick. Was it a lucky, wayward ball into the box, or a stroke of genius? Based on the concentration and visualisation that’s clearly evident leading up to the strike, we’re going for the latter.

After a beautifully weighted through-ball to put this team on the counter attack, this player has an incredible turn of pace to initiate what would become a mouth-watering solo run. Whilst the defenders do well to track back and double-up on the threat, a
After a beautifully weighted through-ball to put this team on the counter attack, this player has an incredible turn of pace to initiate what would become a mouth-watering solo run. Whilst the defenders do well to track back and double-up on the threat, a quick step over and an astonishingly neat flick through the middle leaves them both for dead. After a cheeky roll to glide past a third defender and set himself up for a shot at goal, there’s still plenty to do. But this player keeps his cool, guiding his left-footed shot into the bottom corner where no keeper’s saving it. A magnificent solo goal.

Sunday Screamer Ep. 2
This week’s Sunday Screamer is one that we think even prime Cristiano Ronaldo would struggle to imitate. It’s a sweetly struck shot from long range that just fizzes off the crossbar, at which point a lesser player would have head in hands and give up… Not this chap. For him it’s round two, and before the keeper knows what’s happened, the ball is hit perfectly on the volley with just enough dip to nestle perfectly into the top corner. An absolute scorcher!
