Sustainable gifts!
These garlands of gingko leaves are so pretty and make a lovely gift / decoration for your home. They are a natural product, made in the Philippines from Capiz shells which are found in abundance around the islands.
They are available in white or golden brown and both are so pretty especially when they catch the light and shimmer.

Celebrate Easter with these unique egg shaped gift boxes. They come in a variety of sizes and can be filled with a personal gift at Easter.
The hand painted eggs are made from a pulp created by cotton waste from the fashion industry. They are so pretty and would look lovely to decorate the home if you didn't choose to fill it with a treat.
The hand hammered aluminium eggs come in three sizes, the smallest being a hanging decoration, in antique brass and copper finishes. They all open to insert a gift of your choice.
Made from recycled products and made for recycling year after year.

I am always delighted to find unique products that fit with the ethos of Living in Harmony... great design from sustainable resources that minimise their impact on the environment.
I was therefore so excited when I found a selection of unique tableware made by a cooperative of 75 native families in the Amazon.
The product is made from 100% natural rubber which is extracted from a tree native to the Amazon forest and the production is respectful of the forests biodiversity.
The rubber is poured on to leaves which create the mold for the shape of the tableware and uses natural dyes from seeds and plants. The end product is 100% natural and biodegradable.
The finished product is so tactile and weighty and would work well as a placemat or simply on a coffee table as a large coaster.

Sending love and light to all this Christmas.
This year UNESCO has added to the list of: Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding; the work by these glassblowers in Damascus who use traditional techniques to create glass objects using pieces of waste glass.
Their products are simply beautiful pieces of art, and it is a pleasure to be able to support the work of these artists by stocking the glass baubles, vases and glassware in my shop.
It is recognised by UNESCO that it provides a source of livelihood for artisans, and Damascene glassblowing contributes to a sense of continuity of traditions and belonging.

New in: Pink and green seat pads made from upcycled vintage saris.

The Heritage Kantha throws are an exciting new way of producing beautiful vintage upcycled Kantha throws.
The plaids are made from leftovers from various printed fabrics used for production, and they are put together in a small patchwork and sewn in several layers with dense tiny Kantha stitches. They are then dyed with dusty soft natural colours, which gives the plaids a fantastic vintage look, and the different patterns add personality to each plaid.
All the plaids are made by women in India who are passionate about transforming fabric scraps that would otherwise end up as waste into beautiful, functional products inspired by the nature and culture of the village. They are all part of a larger community that aims to contribute to reducing waste products and, simultaneously, create a way of life that provides fertile ground for personal and local development for each woman.

Lovely vibe at the launch of Sunny Bank Mills Threads and Textile festival. Lots of artists to see and experiences to enjoy throughout the mills over the weekend.

Lots of reasons to pop by this weekend.
Spring is a great reminder of how much joy the colours in nature bring. While we are still waiting for everything to come out in full bloom you can add colour to your home all year round with these beautiful baskets.
Here are a few more of the bolga basket designs available from https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LivinginharmonyUK
A whole lot of love goes into making these beautiful baskets. Starting with the women in Ghana who hand pick the grass, which is then dyed and woven into unique patterns to form the basket. They are sold at local markets and I get the chance to shop virtually choosing my favourite designs. When they finally arrive I lovingly restore their natural shape which can get squished during shipment, and enjoy taking photos of the baskets for my shop.
There are lots of designs and colours available at Living in Harmony, keep a look out for new additions as they are being uploaded over the coming days. Here is just one of my favourites.
A small hand picked collection of the beautiful Suzani cushions are now available at Living in Harmony. They are made from upcycled classic Kantha Sari throws, where the most beautiful patterns in elegant colours and shapes are hand-embroidered on top, giving each a unique and exclusive expression.
This traditional handwork originates originally from the Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan & Kazakhstan and is carried out by local tribes with silk or cotton thread.
Here is just one example of the unique designs in the upcycled sari range of seat pads and bench cushions at Living in Harmony. I particularly love this rich nutty brown colour with really cool graphic flowers and polka dots. This design is available in both a seat pad and bench cushion for those wanting to create a lovely set.
The tones and contrasting patterns on these seat pads made from upcycled saris work so well together. The bench cushion has lovely block printing detail which compliments the patterns of the seat pads.
There are so many options and selections to choose from at Living in Harmony and I am always happy to help with your choices.
