Our pick is the outrageously delicious, puckering Pear Market, brewed by Duckpond Brewing in Gothenburg, Sweden. Packed with pear and vanilla, this fruited gose reminds us of a big dollop of crumble after a hearty tea. Best thing out of Sweden since the Volvo estate.

Honourable mentions to the ever-wonderful Big Foam from Donzoko Brewing Company, Entangled, a brett pale by Burning Sky and Nectaron from local MT faves, Anthology.

This is Joey from saul studio, the good folk responsible for our graphic design here at the Tav. Joey proudly owns 100+ very expensive white t-shirts, so Pizza Loco Panuozzi are a dangerous game for his wardrobe. Joey recommends 4 napkins per sandwich, just to be safe.

Just a little appreciation post for Pizza Loco gnocchi chips. Chips with a twist, if you will. Delicious, comforting little dumplings, ideal as a pint-side snack or that bit you couldn't resist ordering with a pizza. 😍

The most exciting sandwich in town is back today (Thursday) to add a bit of something to week commencing 02.10.23.

The doors crash open at midday - Pizza Loco Panuozzi are available until 3pm. Same applies Friday, Saturday and Sunday too.

From next Thursday 28th onwards, the kitchen will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from midday for all the Pizza Loco goodness you can feast on, as well as the addition to the menu of their legendary panuozzi, it's gotta be eaten to be believed.

Happy Negroni week everyone🍹Now, we all know a Negroni is for life, not just this week, so we're honouring that by turning every single Thursday here at the Meanwood Tav into £5 Negroni Thursdays, just a fiver for that glorious mix of gin, vermouth and campari, delicious!

Commonly referred to as the smiliest member of staff here, we've had to politely request he stops looking directly at the glassware as his blue steel is so intense, they simply explode, costs a fortune to replace them!

He loves an old fashioned (2 for £12 on Thursdays if you didn't already know) and staring whistfully into the middle distance (completely free).

As the saying goes, tide, time and pizza wait for no man🍕 A mantra we wholeheartedly subscribe to, but for the next couple of nights our kitchen will be closed as we get ready to welcome our brand new residents Pizza Loco - They'll be in the house from 5pm on Thursday road testing their menu with some tasty previews of what's to come.

A sad day up here as we bid farewell to one of the best. Yuuki's been with us since the start and will be missed greatly. Just as well we did staff photos last week so we can share this lovely shot and remind you to drop in for her last shift today, say bye, and buy her a pint of Veltins while you're at it.

Drum roll please🥁We are extremely excited to announce our next kitchen residents will be Leeds-based neo-Neopolitan pizza experts Pizza Loco

Bringing their classic 12” Neapolitan pizzas with a contemporary twist, plus Panuozzi - their legendary pizza-dough sandwiches, all using sustainable, local ingredients, expect soft, light and airy crusts, with interesting, generous toppings and an emphasis on sustainable British ingredients including Wildfarm UK-grown and milled organic flour, Yorkshire-grown organic tomatoes, and British charcuterie.

Pizza Loco will take up residency on Thursday 7th September. Keep your eyes peeled and get your taste buds ready for menus, opening hours and even a lunch offering!

In the meantime, head down to get your hands on a slice from before they depart on September 3rd 🍕

You know Sam, he went viral thanks to his prowess at holding a tennis racquet and sinking a pint at the same time. Well did you know he's also a national champion at splitting the G on a Guinness glass? Claims he can do it every time, just ask him, sure he'll show you!

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. You may have already seen that our resident pizza slingers Well Oiled will be serving their final slices here on September 3rd. It’s been a turbo-charged, flavour-filled, mega-topped Detroit style year with them as our kitchen guests and we can’t wait to see what they do next.

Well Oiled have been brilliant partners to have on board for our first year of trading as The Meanwood Tavern - and we’d like to thank their whole team for what they’ve brought to our little corner of Meanwood. In the meantime - you know where to come to get your fill of Detroit Style deliciousness for one more month!

Big weekend ahead here as we welcome Anthology Brewing Company tonight, then the Championship, and the mighty Leeds United, return to our screens across the weekend.

Kicking off tonight at 8pm with Sheffield Wednesday vs Southampton then get ready for Sunday as Leeds United take on Cardiff City at 2.30pm. ALAW!
