Douyin and TikTok are owned by the same Chinese unicorn, Bytedance, worth $275 billion (data updated in Aug 2022). However, despite ByteDance’s efforts to make them appear as if they are one app, Douyin and TikTok are two different entities.

Douyin was launched by ByteDance in Beijing, China, in September 2016. Douyin was originally under the name A.me. In December 2016, the name was changed to Douyin. Next, ByteDance intended for Douyin to go global. ByteDance acquired Musical.ly to build a sizable video community and unveiled TikTok in September 2017. Finally, it relaunched the app after combining TikTok and Musical.ly.

These two apps were also created to accommodate China’s data localization controls. Tiktok is unavailable to Chinese users. As a result, to access Tiktok with a virtual location enabled, Chinese users in China need a VPN. Furthermore, Chinese outside China favour using Douyin over Tiktok for language and culture. In terms of e-commerce, Douyin has made more progress than TikTok. For example, users can purchase items mentioned in a video, book a hotel room after watching a recorded video or take virtual trips to local shops and restaurants to receive coupons.

The social media platform WeChat ranks among the most popular in China. It offers many excellent marketing opportunities for businesses. Here are some tips on using WeChat for marketing:

1). Create a WeChat official account: If you want to reach out to Chinese consumers, you need to have a WeChat official account. This account will give you access to valuable information such as followers, subscribers, and engagement rates.

2). Use WeChat ads: You can use WeChat ads to target specific groups of people. For example, you can target younger people or women interested in fitness. You can even target people who live in certain cities or provinces.

3). Use WeChat Moments: With a WeChat official account, you can also access the Moments feature. This feature is similar to pages, allowing you to share content with your followers. You can use this feature to promote your products and services.

4). Promote your WeChat account: Once you have created your WeChat official account, you should promote it across all your other social media platforms. For example, you can create ads or run promotions encouraging people to follow your account.

5). Use WeChat payments: The payment features on WeChat are also significant for businesses. People in China use the app to pay for everything from taxis to dinner reservations (and much more). If you operate an e-commerce business, your platform must accept WeChat payments so that you appeal to a larger audience.

6). Develop a Wechat Mini Program.WeChat's mini-programs are a great way to expose your brand to the many people using and using WeChat with minimal effort. On a WeChat mini-program, you can appealingly display your brand and provide an easy way for your followers to navigate your site and find more information about you. Moreover, you can also use WeChat mini-programs for marketing purposes. For example, you can create exclusive campaigns for WeChat users and target people interested in your brand. These campaigns can include promotions, coupons, or competitions.

Do I need an eCommerce website to integrate with my POS system?

The short answer is YES!

A modern e-commerce website provides access to a broader, more attractive product offering and a much larger audience than is available within your physical store alone. It is also the best way to present and market your products to your target customers. In addition, integrating an e-commerce website with a point-of-sale system allows complete inventory visibility, lowers the costs of doing business, and allows you to create automated order notifications.

If you want to integrate your marketing and payment solutions into one data tracking system? Create your online store with us! We can design an effective website that benefits your business for sustainability. Contact our customer service for assistance.

The differences in politics, culture, language and mindset between the UK and China has resulted in significant differences in the two markets' internet system and business cultures. As a result, Chinese marketing platforms differ significantly from those found elsewhere - even in their Asian neighbours. However, it's not just the platforms that are different; Chinese netizens' use of social channels is also markedly different, so marketers must adjust their approaches carefully for China's cultural and societal idiosyncrasies as much as for its technological differences. When it comes to China, one size does not fit all.

Technologically, China is known for the Great Firewall that blocks access to selected foreign websites and foreign internet tools (e.g. Google Search, Facebook, Twitter and others) and mobile apps, which are necessary for cross-border trades.

As an example of a social phenomenon, the Chinese celebrate events like Double Eleven, similar to Black Friday in the west.

Easy Marketing Ltd is a digital and event marketing agency with comparative marketplace expertise in global and Chinese businesses to create reliable, fast and cost-effective marketing that benefits business people in the two markets.

A site that looks clean and user-friendly is one of the first things potential customers see. They go right to your company’s value proposition, and if it doesn’t ring true, they move on to the following site. Investing time in designing your website can help drive more business through other digital marketing channels like email marketing or social media. In addition to getting more exposure for your company, you’ll also get a return on your time by automating maintenance around the site, including updates and revisions as necessary. Whether it’s your first time designing a website or looking for new tips for creating an effective layout, here are five practical design principles you can incorporate into any new site design project.

1. Focus on Information architecture
2. Use clear calls to action
3. Think about your site’s content first
4. Show, don’t just tell
5. Incorporate animations and video

How to Networking as a New Resident (Part 1)

I want to share some of my experience in networking with businesses and marketers alike here.

I passed by a clothing shop nearby a lot. Carefully selected colours and fashion styles, I found the shop owner has an exquisite taste. When I tried some clothes on, I will ask her opinion. Sometimes, I would like to learn a bit about the local culture from her.

I asked: Are the leather trousers made for call girls?
She laughed a lot and asked me where I got that information.

Cultural books I read in school in my country, I replied.

"No, No, No..." she explained: "prostitutes worked on the street in old times; they wore red shoes or had feet laced to attract people, but that time has long gone. So now you can't find any of them on the street. Instead, they are working in apartments with high earnings. People on the street with shabby and untidy dresses are called scruffy." She showed her leather trousers: "look, this is not natural leather, it is polyurethane, it is fashion, try it on."

With the stereotype for the leather material, I didn't buy those trousers, but I did purchase the new dress from her shop. And checked her new items every Monday. I liked the hospitality I felt from her, and she introduced her brother, who was looking for a landing page, to me.

I am excited that I finally got my first British customer. My business card arrived at the right time to get the first payment. I did a nice running to celebrate my very first pound earnings as a startup here.

Now I am super busy with Chinese customers waiting in line and now started to receive customers here.

But the fulfillment charges me with a full battery.

Using a recruitment agency to collect information, arrange interviews and negotiate terms, can relieve considerable pressure. But it is not always the right choice, especially for startup companies. Let me relate two experiences to illustrate this point.

My Experience to Hire a Content Creator:

Recently, I posted a recruitment post to hire a content creator. Shortly within three days, I got four candidates I was interested in. Among these, one is an agency running influencer with a specific program. If I handed over this recruitment to an agency, they probably already filtered this agency. But I soon invited my Chinese team for a zoom meeting to negotiate cooperation with them. We will not necessarily hire the influencer they recommend for this project. But I clearly know there'll be opportunities for collaboration. It is beyond the recruitment itself.

My Experience to Apply for a Job

Earlier, I came across a post. Three website developers run a new website development agency. They used to work for other companies, but now they have their own customers, and they need to hire more website developers.. They found a recruitment agency to find candidates for them. I checked the skills they desire. I am a good fit. I emailed the agency and gave her a following-up call. I stated that I look forward to working with them in a team as a web developer. Above that, I want to collaborate with them as a founder. I hope they can work for us when I have projects to run. It is win-win cooperation for both companies. I can work for them three days a week, fully dedicated, and work for my business in 2 days and all my free time.

Yet the answer was quite disappointing. The HR agency insisted that they would not consider me. As a matter of fact, she kindly reminded me that no one would hire me when I wanted to run my business.

Ironically, the UK startup visa allows us to work for a company. I also believe it beneficial to work for a UK company part-time when I had never studied or worked in this foreign country before to build quality contacts.

The founders are not accessible when the agency operates between us.

The recruitment agency can provide professional services like writing privacy policy for human resources, and creating automatic track emails. Nevertheless, they may work by the book. I do recommend startup entrepreneurs get their hands dirty.

The Last Control of COVID in the UK

From 18 March, 2022, the government published a new pocicy, anyone arrives in England from abroad after 4am, he/she doesn’t need to take any COVID-19 test before or after the travel. But unfortunately, I started the journey from 12 March. And I nearly missed my flight because of the last control over COVID.

I did checked from the website that I will need to
1. Get English test report from the local hospital within 48 hours of the flight;
2. Arrange COVID-19 test the second day after my arrival;
3. International Travel Health Certificate
4. Passenger Locator Form

The direct flight from my city to Manchester is not available in Changsha, where I live, I need to transfer from Beijing on 11 March. And when I logged in to gov.uk on 9 March to fill the Passenger Locator Form, it reminded me to wait three days before the flight.

But I later filled the form alomost at the last minute of the flight. Why? For one thing, when I worked for the company, I would always have a travel agent to settle everything for me. Now as a self-empoyed startup, I decide to handle everything on my own. No agent reminds me what to do at the right time. For another, my weakest ability is to do calculations. I thought maybe I can fill the form when I later transfer from Austria. But it is not like that.

Early in the morning of 12 March, I arrived in the airport. The flight crew asked me to prepare everything before boarding on the plane.

23:18 Beijing time: I was informed that I need the Passenger Locator Form, to fill the form, I need to book immediately online to get a reference number;

23:22 Beijing time: I logged on UK government website, I purchased randomly from one available for my address among a number of lab information for a choice;

23: 42 Beijing time: I waited and waited, the lab didn’t send me any confimation letter or messages. I contacted the online chatbox but no one replied me. I wrote letters to their mailbox but no one answered me.

23: 40 Beijing time:The flight crew told me I will need to pass the immigration check two hours before the flight. Or else I will have to book another flight.

23:42 Beijing time: I thought to myself, either cancel my flight or I can find another lab. I checked again the website information and find one clearly stated they will provide 24hours service.

23:46: The second lab, 1010 labs confirmed me with a reference number right after my payment. Clearly they have a better email automation system for the webite application.

23:55 I completed the form, downloaded it for the flight crew to check. And finally got my flight ticket. Another Chinese girl met the same issue. As she arrived in the airport later than me, she is still anxiously to get a response from the lab without an email automation system. The flight crew suggest her to seek guidance from me. I shared my experience to find one available for her address and clearly promise a 24 hour service. She followed my suggestion to book twice from another lab. She got the ticket almost at the last minute.

Had the sympathetic suffering for the COVID control, we soon became UK journey companions. She keeps a permanent visa but lives in Beijing for family and business reason. I found great intrest to learn how she planned her life. Also I felt upset that she had to go back right after visa updating. For one thing, she had to stay one month for quarantine. For another, I have no idea when I can go back home to meet my family because of continous COVID control at home.

Dear friends,

Now I'm sitting on a long bench in Armley park. Petals from a Cherry Blossom Tree dancing in the sky, falling elegantly onto the floor, making the earth a green carpet with pink dots, birds are squirting and a lovely Yorkshire Terrier passing by, half raised his legs to p*e, then lively runaway.

Two months ago, I reached the UK with a startup visa. Every day I am busy adapting to the new culture linguistically and socially (Thank God I am learning and using the language for years, oh my God the west Yorkshire accent is so strong that Alice is always lost in wonderland), making connections and collaborations, building credits from scratch in a new society.

Never ever studied in the UK or any other foreign country, I feel every single day fresh, challenging and enlightening. Luckily my professional growth all the year made me a problem solver to survive and thrive. I believe my journey is unique. That is why I came out with the idea of writing my first book: Alice in England.

I create this page for the purpose, I sincerely welcoming your comments on any of my ideas, either for prewriting or for the correction of information I recommend startups.
