- District Heating: A Cost-effective, Efficient, and Eco-friendly Heating Solution District heating (or heat networks) is a centralised heating system that distributes heat via insulated pipes for residential and business purposes. It is a sustainable solution to meet space and water heating requirements. The heat source is obtained from a cogeneration plant or other sources such as geothermal heating, heat pumps, and solar or waste heat from factories. - Health & Safety and The CSW App Last week we told you about our in-house induction portal. This week, we want to share the development of the CSW App and why we felt it was a necessary tool to create. The creation of the CSW App has been one of the pivotal improvements we have made to health and safety across all projects. Recording, logging and submitting documentation has become much more accessible, ensuring top management can access information at any time from anywhere, and team members become responsible for their safety on site along with any tasks required for that day. The app is used by all on-site operatives and management; it enables them to see and complete jobs through the eyes of an experienced user. Each task asks a simple but effective set of questions and requires evidence; this provides the operational and commercial departments of the company with crucial evidence and information which can be manipulated and automated to suit previous time-reliant tasks and requirements. We are continually developing the app so that all internal procedures, such as health and safety, operational, commercial and HR, can be handled efficiently and in one easily accessible place. - Creating 3D models We are fortunate here at CSW Process as we have our very own in-house, specially skilled surveying team, CSW Survey LTD. Our Surveying teams use the latest 3D scanners when collecting Point-cloud data of Post Installation in District Heating plant rooms. This high-resolution information can be presented in various deliverables, from accurate as-built information to rendering and creating 3D Models. We use 3D scanning in the pre-construction stage to accurately record existing internal and external conditions of a building or environment. This survey is used throughout the construction project as the basis for plans, models, and records. Here at CSW, we have utilised our DHN-Road Plating System along with our Heavy-duty Road Plating System to successfully navigate a 2m wide and ~3m deep trench across one of Bristol's main arteries—the A4044. CSW installed ~50 road plates side by side and utilised our Vacuum excavation services on one-lane night closures to ensure that there was minimal disruption at night and no disruption throughout the day. CSW’s temporary works designers allowed us to maintain traffic flow for 40t, vehicles crossing the trench, and the challenging process of longitudinal traffic. Six lanes of flowing traffic were safely maintained throughout the working time frame, and flow and return mains were installed to link the OMNE & OMNW schemes. #CSWProcess #civilengineering #A4040 #roadworks #districtheating #netzero

Bristol – Trial Hole Vacuum Excavation We’ve recently undertaken a trial hole in Bristol to determine the route for our next possible extension to the heat network. This was all vacuum excavated with our on-site Vac-Ex, which again proved its worth of digging narrow trenches with areas populated with assets and utilities. The trial hole was excavated, surveyed, backfilled, and compacted to the required compaction rate throughout a weekend to ensure the developers’ mass climber could be installed the following Monday.
