Children's Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) support babies, children and adults born with heart disease across Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, the Humber and North Derbyshire who are treated at the specialist Leeds Congenital Heart Unit within Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Donations and support can come from the most surprising - and inspiring - of places. Just recently, CHSF received a £5,000 donation from local Moortown boy Oscar Ali. In June, Oscar climbed the formidable peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in just one day with his dad, Dan.

What is even more remarkable is that 11-year-old Oscar was diagnosed with heart disease at birth, and underwent open heart surgery in Leeds in May 2023 to repair a hole in his heart.

CHSF are super proud that Oscar completed this challenge to raise vital funds, but his treatment and recovery was only possible because of the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, an organisation CHSF have funded since 1988.

Make a Difference, volunteer with Childline: You’ll be part of a team dedicated to transforming young lives.

Childline is a lifeline for young people across the UK, offering a safe space when they have no one else to turn to. Right now they’re calling on compassionate individuals in Leeds to join the team of volunteer counsellors.

Shifts are 3.5 hours long, with a basic commitment to 26 shift per year, this is your chance to make a real difference.

I’m thrilled to announce the launch of a new magazine, THAT MORLEY MAG. Morley is a vibrant community with a strong sense of togetherness, and I believe it’s the perfect place for a dedicated community magazine. The area shares many similarities with the regions where That Leeds Mag thrives.

With a local artists work featured on the cover and 30% of the content dedicated to engaging editorials, THAT MORLEY MAG will be a must-read for residents, whether they currently need a service or not. Leeds Adel Hockey Club is an amateur hockey club based at Leeds Adel War Memorial, North Leeds, with over 76 years of history. The club currently has six men’s teams, five ladies’ teams and over ten junior teams, as well as masters and mixed hockey opportunities. Leeds Adel Hockey Club offer hockey sessions for those aged 5 – 75 (and above!).

The junior section of the club is actively welcoming more juniors’ players to try hockey at our friendly club, no experience is required. The club is particularly interested in recruiting players aged 12 – 15, to boost our U14 and U16 ranks.

Alongside coaching, all junior players can enjoy a range of activities including team bonding, holiday themed socials, such as Halloween and Christmas socials, and hockey tours to other clubs. These events all contribute to a fun and friendly atmosphere at Leeds Adel Hockey Club, where all children feel valued and enjoy being active.
