Moving out this week? End of Tenancy time is fast approaching for some of you. You are faced with the stressful task of packing up and moving home - or onto your next student property - it can be stressful. 🔐📚📦

Avtar's Top Tips to get you through it! 💛

1. Make a to-do list. Dig out your contract. Try marking key dates in your diary so you feel organised & aren't leaving everything until the last minute!
2. Declutter. Have a sort out! Clear out or sell (hello Vinted) any unused clothes & study materials etc
3. Ensure you have enough boxes, Vacuum bags, labels, scissors, tape & a marker pen! Also think about bubble wrap & newspaper for fragile items. FYI The large clear Ikea Zip bags are handy!
4. Clean each room as you pack your things. This will also help you identify any damage or repairs to the property that need to be made. We've popped a 'list' up on stories as a reference point.
5. Have a plan of who will help you move out. Think of those heavy duty boxes. Parents? Friends? OR are you going to need to book a removal service?
6. When all your boxes and bags are moved out, that is your chance to do your last checks of the property!
7. Take Final meter readings
8. Take pics of the property
9. Ensure keys are returned on time

Are you a Leeds (or soon to be) Student considering a house share for your next home?! 🔑🚪

Here are our thoughts below 💡

1. Make new friends for life (we made some of our best friends for life bonding as 2nd & 3rd years!) You'll probably find that you start hanging out with friends of friends, as well as friends of friends of friends too!

2. Split costs! Fancy ordering food in? Split that Deliveroo or Uber ride back from drinks in Town!

3. You'll never be short of company! Studio flats are cool & all but sometimes you just fancy a bit of banter! Netflix & snacks in the lounge? You're on!

4. More space in a bigger property. Period!

5. Support network. When you move into a shared house, it’s likely that you’ll be sharing a space with other students, who aren't from Leeds. This means you can be part of a support network that supports one another through the experience of moving away from home/family! Forgotten your key? Housemates have you covered!

6. Living with a group of housemates not only means you can hone your ability to participate in team housekeeping, but you can also learn many other important skills. You can educate yourself on each other’s cultures, learn to cook new cuisines etc! Imagine the dinner parties in this kitchen! 🙏🏻
