After a long period of uncertainty and turbulence Final Coil have announced the addition of a permanent drummer to their ranks, welcoming experienced sticksman Gee Neale to the band just in time for the official launch of their new album The World We Inherited, the first for new label Sliptrick Records. The band have issued the following statement welcoming Gee to the Final Coil family...

"Today we are delighted to confirm that Gee Neale has taken up permanent residence on the Final Coil drum stool. Gee has a long history on the Leicester scene, having spent ten years backing respected rockers and multi-Metal2TheMasses finalists, Diceratops. His diverse experience also includes stints with Last Man Standing and Pray for Fire, as well as work with local orchestras, making Gee the perfect fit for Final Coil."

Final Coil frontman Phil Stiles went on to explain just why Gee had been offered this permanent position with the band...
"“Final Coil has not had the happiest history with drummers, but from the first audition, it was clear that Gee would be a good fit for the band, both personally and musically. We don’t underestimate the challenge of someone coming in at the point of an album release (and with a substantial back catalogue to learn), but Gee has embraced the task, and we can’t wait to hit the road again, after a lengthy absence, airing a mix of new songs and old favourites.”

Gee himself is excited to establish himself in his new role, commenting...
"“It feels like excellent timing given the ambition of the band matches my own. I've been busy assimilating music for the sets, being respectful of the parts established by previous drummers, whilst finding my own place. I've overhauled my home practice setup as well as the kit to fit with a new sound as I stretch different drum muscles. I'm excited to show what we've been working on, as well as getting involved in the creative process once this promotional cycle has ended.”

Fans will get their first chance to see Gee in action when Final Coil hit the stage in London and Leicester for two special album launch shows, where they will be unveiling new material from their imminent album The World We Inherited for the first time.
On Friday January 12th Final Coil play The Black Heart in Camden with support from The Mariana Hollow, Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate and The River.

This week we return to the stage for the first time in almost a year, heading to The Black Heart to launch our forthcoming album (produced by the mighty Russ Russell no less).

With support from The River, Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate, and The Mariana Hollow, this is going to be a special gig, and we're also filming it.

We're starting to see reviews emerge of our forthcoming album, The World We Inherited, due out on 16.1.24. This one is particularly special, and we'd like to thank World Of Metal for making it one of their albums of the month, and for their amazing, 9/10 review for the record.

We were particularly pleased that they saw it as a complete piece, and really took the trouble to understand what we wanted to do with this record.

The wonderful team at RockmusicRaider described our brand-new video, Chemtrails, as "a top notch rendition of a disquieting, evil, and eerie environment where violence is always hinted but never shown outright". YouTube, on the other hand, slapped a content warning on it, just in case we're spreading disinformation! Check out the clip and make up your own mind!

Not content with one launch show for their new album, The World We Inherited, Final Coil have given notice that, in addition to the previously announced performance at The Black Heart in London on January 12th, they will also be playing a celebratory gig in their hometown of Leicester on the following night. Alongside a completely different supporting cast of bands to the London show, Final Coil will be unveiling their long awaited new album at Duffy's Bar on January 13th. Both nights will feature an array of exciting and diverse UK talent and a full headline set from Final Coil including a fantastic set list incorporating old favourites and brand new material from The World We Inherited.

Joining Final Coil for the second night of festivities at Duffy's Bar in Leicester will be…
The Medea Project, a South African duo whose dark metal, charged with an exotic, gothic atmosphere takes on magical dimensions in the live arena. Their most recent release was the Reflections EP on Trepanation Recordings which included fabulous reimaginings of classic tracks by Venom, Motorhead and Tiamat.
Knim, a West Yorkshire based fantasy progressive rock band whose stunning, adventurous debut EP, When A Star Falls was recently re-released on Wormholedeath.
Matt Steady, the exceptionally talented guitarist who is making waves with his latest album of epic instrumentals, Presence.

The Duffy's Bar show is a free entry event - so all you need to do is get yourself to the venue and enjoy an incredible night of music!
