Nurses are trained to understand and treat the unique and complex physical and mental health needs of elderly people. They try to help their patients protect their health and cope with changes in their mental and physical abilities, so elderly people can stay independent and active as long as possible.
If you need help with arranging care please contact us on 0116 430 0230 or email: [email protected]
đź’›The care system can be a minefield to navigate alone, especially during such a stressful time. Glad we were able to help, and relieve some of the stress for you. đź’›
We’ve helped an elderly couple living in a care home, as they wanted to stay together. When the husband needed extra care and was admitted to hospital, his wife was not properly informed, and their care home refused her husband’s return, saying his needs had increased. Within 24 hours of becoming involved, we had contacted the hospital and arranged meetings between the wife, consultant and ward sister.
If you or a loved one is having difficulties in the care system please call 0116 430 0230 or email: [email protected]
We can point you in the right direction for your specific needs as we have a network of people who specialise in property. We won’t; doubt you or your desired outcome, try to influence you or make your decision for you, try to persuade you to do what others wish you to do, speak when you want to speak for yourself or accept any offer that might compromise our independence.

🌟This month I have a guest blog from Dawn Rowley, who runs The Organised Assistant 🌟
"When it is time to move:
â—Ź Make final decisions about what furniture to take and work out will fit in your new home.
â—Ź Arrange removal surveys.
â—Ź Book house clearance to clear bulky items and other unwanted items, avoid hiring a skip as this is often not the most efficient method of disposing of unwanted stuff.
â—Ź Start to prepare change of address paperwork.
As a Professional Organiser specialising in downsizing and relocations moves, I have helped many clients and their families with planning a move from decluttering to support on move day with unpacking and settling into the new home. Every client and move is different so a full consultation is essential to establish what support package is required."

Huge congratulations to Amelia Benskin, Fred, and the team Quality Life UK for winning this award.
So well deserved.
If I am asked for recommendations for live-care in the East Midlands, they are always on the list.
Like me, they don't look at the older person in isolation. They support the whole family through what is often a difficult and emotional time.
If you want to find out more about them and the services they can offer to your loved ones, then here is a link to their website

🏆Family Business of the Year Awards - Winners! 🏆
We're thrilled to announce that we've won our 3rd award this year.
Building upon our success at the National Home Care Awards and Women's Awards, we were delighted to be crowned as Winners at the Family Business Awards 2024.
The Awards recognise the very best of British Family Businesses and saw entrants from some incredibly successful (and very large!) family businesses from across the UK including Furniture Village and Brewers. We were honoured just to be in the same room as these national companies (to be honest we had more than a little bit of imposter syndrome 🤣) and our jaws hit the floor when we were announced as Winners at the ceremony in London.
Our award for Societal Impact of the Year recognises the difference that we make to the lives of those living in our local societies and communities and we couldn't be happier to have been recognised in this way.
As ever, absolutely all of the credit goes to our incredible team of Carers and Care Managers who perform little miracles every day to improve the lives of the individuals we support. Thank you everyone 🤗

"I offer a hands on flexible package of support covering all aspects of a downsizing move and share below some tips that need consideration to ensure a stress free move.
â—Ź Decluttering is essential in readiness for a downsizing move so ensure you start this well in advance.
● Go on a tour of your home room by room and discover what’s actually in there including what’s in the loft, garage and shed. Ask for help with harder to reach areas like the loft.
â—Ź Consider what furniture and belongings you want to offer to family and friends, i.e. if you are moving to a retirement apartment without a garden, who may benefit from your unwanted lawn mower and garden furniture?
â—Ź Identify if there are items you can sell on local selling sites or through auction.
● Review your clothes as it is likely you have items you no longer wear or that don’t fit anymore
â—Ź Arrange charity donations, this can often be done by arranging collections from your home but always check with your local charity about what they will accept. "

"A downsizing move is both physically and emotionally demanding and whilst the decision to downsize may involve discussions with family members, they may not always be available to commit the time needed to support you fully when the time comes with all the preparation that will be required so planning as far ahead as possible is essential especially if you haven’t moved for many years.
Our homes are full of our furniture, belongings and memories accumulated over decades so deciding what to keep and what to let go of is a challenging task."

While live-in care can be more expensive than residential care, it's often comparable, especially when considering the benefits of personalized attention and remaining in one's own home. Especially if more than one person in the home requires support.
