Garden design job from last year. Went for a more neutral look with little bits of colour popping through as we come into summer
Thankyou to for a lovely talk on Gardening for Wild Life and Thankyou to Helen from for inviting us lots of notes taken and ideas to use in the new year.
Newly built compost bins from start to finish.
150 mixed hedging plants in 4 different varieties planted the other day đł We also got these stunning Silver Birch trees in the ground, adding focal interest to this part of the garden. (Carpinus Betulus, Prunus Spinosa, Crataegus Monogyna & Fagus Sylvatica Atropurpurea)
Autumn planting đ Weâve used plants that can be moved in the new year and planted in another part of the garden instead of being thrown away. Cyclamens/Heuchera/Skimmias are great for this purpose, giving colour to the garden whilst everything else is dieing down.
Great day at Hampton Court flower show! Got to see some educational talks and some lovely displays.
Filled these raised beds with a variety of organic matter layered throughout. Rotten logs are a great filler with lots of microorganisms/mycelia alongside organic compost, it all makes for great veg growing condition.
Good job Cam for picking these all up today and Thankyou to & for all your Help, exciting new garden coming soon. đ
1) Common spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii)
2) Campanula persicifolia/Allium cristophii 3) Helianthemum 4) Geum Mai tai 5) Centaurea montana âAmethyst in snowâ
Weâve both been busy this year with multiple big projects and will be getting back into the swing of posting again đ A little before/after to start things back off.
With spring around the corner, weâve been composting beds to help get nutrients back into the soil ready for new growth

Before/After of a front garden we recently worked on. After shaping all the shrubs for the winter, we then cleared out the weeds giving the area a more open feel
Happy New Year from Roots of Sussex. I had a lovely New Year walk with the family at RHS Wisley, my three star plants were the Cornus Midwinter Fire, Poinsettia pyramids that had been constructed and the cloud-pruned Japanese Yew.
The company is full of good ideas for 2023. Please get in touch if youâd like to bring a bit of that inspiration to your garden this year.

Brrr The weatherâs turned icy cold, but even in these minus temperatures the weeds can look prettier than the plants. Weâre still hard at work breaking through frozen ground to bring our clients a fresh winter tidy, ready for the New Year.

Spent the day going through these beds getting any unwanted weeds out and pruning back the shrubs. Afterwards we laid down fresh organic compost to improve the soil and to give the beds a fresher look for the coming winter months.
Busy day clearing this bed overhanging a terraced section. Now itâs opened up the view to the top part of the garden and gives a sense of a bigger more open space.
First stage of preparation for these new beds sorted. Weâve created a lovely flowing bed by the main lawn, with a larger central area for the bigger shrubs as a main feature. Then round the fence line weâve planted a mixture of herbaceous, which will fill the bed with vivid colours at different height levels.
Client was very delighted with this Pyracantha cut. Just enough off to keep the berries for the winter autumn colour and food for the birds. Get in touch for all your hedge cutting needs
Hope everyone has a great Halloween and Bonfire night. Hereâs a great tip from Bob Flowerdew, if youâre going to have a Bonfire donât build your bonfire beforehand but make a separate spot to the side. This way if there are any hedgehogs nesting inside they can be moved beforehand.
Had a lovely half term trip to Hever with the kids (terrible mowing accident). Thereâs still just enough time to get your evergreens shaped up.

Busy day laying down bark chip through these lovely beds. Not only will this keep the weeds down, but also help with water retention throughout the bed.
Client was thrilled with this bed clearance today. Itâs now ready for a new lease of life with new plants and fresh compost.
Shrubs we kept - (Philadelphus Coronarius/ Camellia/ Euonymus japonicus)
