Struggling with energy bills? What can you do if you can't afford to pay?

1. Check what you are currently paying. If paying by Direct Debit your monthly payment is based on your estimated energy use for the full year. Make sure you have provided metre readings of your actual use as this may help to reduce your bill.

2. Speak to your provider for ways to help pay your bill. They may be able to offer an "able to pay plan" based on what you can afford to pay.

3. If you are on a low income, you may be able to claim benefits. Contact your local Citizens Advice for a benefit check.

If you currently experiencing problems with Energy debt, contact one of our advisers on 0808 278 7839 or for a call back complete a short online form at https://gmmap.org.uk/referral/?q=self-referral
