Today is the 132nd anniversary of Liverpool Football Club LFC ⚽️🚩

On 3 June 1892, founder John Houlding received certificate of establishment from the Board of Trade, officially establishing the club and was informed that Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Company Limited had been officially recognised, marking the birth of Liverpool FC.

In March of that year, Houlding and his associates initiated the formation of a new club after parting ways with Everton FC, which left Anfield without a team.

William E. Barclay is credited with suggesting the name Liverpool Football Club. He and Houlding agreed on the mission statement: "That the club be called Liverpool Football Club and shall play under the Rules of the Football Association."

⭐️ when in Liverpool - River of Light 2023 🌈✨

This year's River of Light carries the theme "United By Light," inspired by the "United By Music" slogan used during the Eurovision event in May 👨🏻‍🎤🎙️

Last year, approximately 250,000 visitors flocked to the city center to experience the installations, ensuring a bustling event 🤩

If you plan to visit River of Light 2023, here's the essential information:

🔸Dates: River of Light runs from October 27 to November 5, with the artworks illuminated from 5 pm to 9 pm each evening.

🔹Family-Friendly: River of Light is suitable for all ages and is a family-friendly event. Plus, it's an outdoor trail, so you can even bring your dog.

🔸Ticket-Free: The event is entirely free, so you don't need to purchase tickets or adhere to a specific schedule.

🔹Accessibility: This year, River of Light aims to be the most accessible ever. They are introducing two "quiet hour" sessions on October 29 and November 1 from 4 pm to 5 pm. These sessions will offer a quieter, more sensory-friendly experience with reduced soundscapes and altered lighting for individuals with sensory differences.

River of Light 2023 showcases a diverse collection of 11 stunning artworks, a collaborative effort by local, national, and international artists. These artworks are thoughtfully spread throughout a 2-kilometer loop that encompasses various key locations, including the iconic Royal Albert Dock, Mann Island, and the picturesque area by the Three Graces.

♥️ Here's a detailed guide to the remarkable artworks you can encounter and where to find them:

1️⃣ Lampshades Bouquet – Located on the Strand, opposite Canning Place, this exhibit is a creation of the French studio TILT. It features towering 7-meter-high bouquets designed in the style of traditional lampshades, illuminated in a mesmerizing array of colors.

2️⃣Emergence – Positioned near the Martin Luther King Jr. building at Albert Dock, "Emergence" invites visitors to step into This Is Loop's pavilion of mirrors, adorned with over 10,000 LED lights, accompanied by an engaging soundtrack.

3️⃣Ukrainian Dreams – Adorning the exterior of the Maritime Museum at Albert Dock, this exhibit by Ukrainian artists presents an audio-visual projection featuring fantastical creatures and vibrant landscapes, conveying a message of peace.

4️⃣Glow – Found by the Museum of Liverpool, "Glow" is a creation by Amigo & Amigo. It comprises illuminated lamp posts illustrating the various phases of the moon around the Earth, complemented by more than 40 different musical soundtracks.

5️⃣Night Whisper – Also located by the Museum of Liverpool, Amigo & Amigo's second installation takes the form of a giant luminescent light bulb, housing illuminated moths that visitors are encouraged to explore from the inside.

6️⃣Florescentia – Situated at Mann Island, this piece from the Sydney-based Atelier Sisu draws inspiration from the Latin word for blossoming. It features illuminated plants that appear to come to life, allowing visitors to interact with them from various angles.

7️⃣United by Music – Near the Royal Liver Building, "United By Music" stands as a vibrant, pink, 12-meter round multi-purpose performance space paying tribute to the music of Eurovision 2023.

8️⃣Nova – Nestled within the St. Nicholas Church courtyard, "Nova" offers a dazzling display reminiscent of a newborn star. Thousands of laser lights create intricate swirling galaxy patterns, accompanied by a captivating ground projection.

9️⃣Elysian and Elysian Arcs – Found at Exchange Flags, these installations by Atelier Sisu feature a giant inflatable artwork designed for visitors to walk around and through. The experience is enhanced with a soundscape by the award-winning composer John McHugh, a Liverpool native.

1️⃣0️⃣ Our Beating Heart – Positioned outside the Town Hall, "Our Beating Heart" is the creation of Studio Vertigo. It transforms a classic disco glitter ball into a massive heart that rotates slowly, producing a dazzling light show.

1️⃣1️⃣Labyrinth – Taking over Derby Square, "Labyrinth" is essentially a playful environment constructed from translucent, colorful PVC fabric. Visitors can immerse themselves in a vibrant world of color and sound, making for a truly engaging experience.
These 11 artworks come together to create a captivating and diverse visual and sensory journey for visitors to River of Light 2023, making it an event not to be missed.

✈️🎉Liverpool John Lennon Airport ranked best in the UK in 2023 🎉✈️

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has achieved a remarkable feat, earning the title of the United Kingdom’s best airport according to the annual survey conducted by Which? 🇬🇧🛫

The survey involved nearly 4,000 respondents who shared their airport experiences over the past year and evaluated airports in eleven different categories, such as seating, staff service, restroom facilities, and various queues📊

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has soared to the top of the rankings with an impressive customer satisfaction score of 82 % 👏

This achievement is further highlighted by the airport’s second consecutive recognition as a Which? Recommended Provider.

Passengers who participated in the survey expressed their high regard for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, describing their experiences as “first class.” 👍

The airport received a five-star rating for the efficiency of check-in and security procedures, indicating an unusually hassle-free journey for travelers. Staff members at the airport earned a well-deserved four-star rating, with many respondents praising their friendliness and helpfulness. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✔️

Additionally, the airport received four-star ratings for baggage handling, bag drop queues, and passport control. Travelers commended it as a “well-run, efficient airport” and expressed their preference for it.

🔹John Irving, chief executive of LJLA, said: “LJLA has always focused on three words which are embedded in every member of staff that works at the airport – faster, easier, friendlier.

“These make up the core philosophy of what we expect the passenger experience to be when flying through the airport, no matter what time of day.

“It is that ethos and hard work put in by our staff, along with our dedicated third-party operator staff, which makes it no surprise to see LJLA named as the UK’s number one airport by travellers this year.

“We are extremely proud to be recognised, and it shows that LJLA customers continue to be in the best hands when they travel through.”

🔸At the end of June this year, LJLA celebrated its 90th birthday. The airport has recovered strongly from the pandemic. In May LBN revealed a year-on-year rise in passenger numbers to 3.77m in the 12 months to March 31, 2023.

🔹With Ryanair, easyJet and Lufthansa all significantly pushing up capacity on existing routes, and launching new ones, the airport could see passenger numbers return to pre-pandemic levels this year.

🌟When in Liverpool - River of Light 🌈✨

Running until Sunday November, 6, River Of Light will play host to a series of artworks created by local, national and international artists. 🤩

River Of Light is the first time that renowned artists Yinka Ilori and Camille Walala have worked in the art medium of light. 🤟😎

The exhibition launches, as Liverpool plays host to the World Gymnastics Championships 2022, inspiring the creative theme for River of Light 2022: ‘Unexpected Twist’.

The 2km walking trail, includes a mix of brand new, world premieres, as well as existing artworks which have never been displayed in the city before.🍾✨

The brand new, never-before seen commissions are:

💚Turn The Light On, It’s Dark In Here – Influential and critically acclaimed French street artist Camille Walala, will work in light for the first time in her career and expect a colourful, dynamic piece which plays with depth and dimensionality, creating an abstract cityscape of light.

📍Dancing Ribbons – Another light first for the much-lauded British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori, who has been inspired by rhythmic gymnastics. His installation aims to capture the energy between the gymnast and the prop ribbon and includes a specially-created soundscape by accomplished composer and producer Peter Adjaye.

📍Light Looper – The brainchild of Liverpool’s own Kazimier Productions, this interactive installation is a multiplayer game where players send particles of lights all around the art work, building up speed until the piece allows them to send the fully charged particle to the very top.

📍Rainbow Accordion – Inspired by a traditional accordion, this artwork consists of six giant colourful interconnected archways, which sit on an interactive pad that when jumped on, sends light and sound through the archway. This work has been created by Australian artists Amigo & Amigo and it is their second appearance at a River of Light festival.

📍BEAM – A brand new commission by the acclaimed Lucid Creates (artists Helen Swan and Chris Carr) will see a beam of light transport visitors to a hot, summer’s day, accompanied by the sounds of the British countryside. But after several minutes the feeling of peace and warmth will change to unease and suspense.

Existing artworks exhibited at River Of Light for the first time include:

📍The Electric Dandelions - Giant steel and acrylic sculptures by American artist Liquid PXL that represent a dandelion flower during the day and come to life at night.

📍Kinetic Perspective - Spanish artist Juan Fuentes takes a simple piece as its starting point: an ever-spinning circle moving outwards and its illusory effect. In this way, the artist creates an abstract, immersive geometric shape, playing with the perspective of visitors by giving the impression of movement.

📍Continuum - An awe inspiring, 20 metre immersive artwork by illumaphonium is made of 25 mirrored monoliths, each standing over 2.5m tall. The monoliths are laid out in a geometric maze pattern, creating a mirrored maze of infinite reflections. As you approach each monolith the light pattern responds to your presence and the sound is activated. Ripples of light are sent between towers and an ever-evolving soundscape is created.

📍Affinity - An immersive interactive light and sound installation by Amigo & Amigo, inspired by the human brain. Each light globe represents a neuron and connection in the brain. When people touch the light globe the colour changes, the more people that interact the further their light travels throughout the sculpture. Affinity features 62 different colour combinations and 45 points of interactivity.

📍Evanescent - A larger-than-life bubble artwork by Atelier Sisu. Standing at 8m tall, the audience is invited to walk underneath the bubble structures. The material of the artwork is iridescent in the sunlight. When darkness falls, internal lights illuminate bubbles in vibrant multi-colours alongside an accompanying etherial soundscape.

The full details of all ten pieces, the artists and their locations can be found on the official River of Light website.

River Of Light is being delivered by Liverpool City Council’s Culture Liverpool team and is supported by Arts Council England.
