Protect wildlife, don't dump pumpkins

With Halloween around the corner of course many of you will be carving some wonderful, spooky faces on pumpkins to celebrate the season.

When the Halloween fun is over we would like to request that our visitors do not discard pumpkins in Epping Forest. We understand that it may seem like a good idea to feed the local wildlife by leaving out these used pumpkins but we urge you not to do so.

The pumpkins may harbour diseases which can be harmful to this special ancient habitat, much of which is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation. We would suggest you place them with your food waste for appropriate recycling instead.

Today is National Adopt A Dog Day. Here at DBL we love bringing the dogs to work. Here's Kira, Heather's pup. She was adopted from AA Dog Rescue back in May and has settled in well with her new family. Today is a day to acknowledge all the hard work rescue centres do, and to understand what an adopted animal goes through, including how long it takes for them to come to terms with their new environment. o 52 drugs seizures
o 41 arrests
o £50k seized

Detective Superintendent Gareth Williams said: “These results are testament to the dedicated work of my team in partnership with our police colleagues and reminds criminals that the railway is not a viable option to move drugs, or indeed exploited persons, between locations.

“Drugs they distribute into communities ruin lives and we are continually developing and sharing our intelligence picture, to vary our tactics and dismantle their criminal operations."
