In Geography, Year 3 have been studying the Earth. We looked at the different layers of the Earth and used playdoh to construct our own models of Earth.
In History we have been learning about the Stone Age. Year 3 had a fantastic day at Celtic Harmony. When we arrived, we travelled back in time to the stone age where we became the wild boar tribe. We learned how to make fire, build our own dens, hunt and trade goods. Even though it was extremely cold we had some amazing experiences and learned a lot about life nearly 10,000 years ago.
Our lovely PTA (FOLCS) are organising a BBQ & Bounce event on Friday the 14th of June at 15:30pm. Please see below for details.
Also on Friday the 24th of May, FOLCS are holding a cake sale :-)

Thank you so much Cottlandswick Leisure Centre 😊
Delighted to team up with London Colney Primary & Nursery School this morning getting the kids active and having fun!
The children have been very interested in talking about the different seasons in the year. They were able to discuss the differences and similarities between the seasons before we focused on the spring.
The children have engaged in our carpet discussions, talking about what they have noticed about the spring. We looked at different photographs and explored our outdoor areas for signs of spring. We also talked about the different flowers that are growing during the spring time. The children were fascinated to learn about the different parts of a flower and created some beautiful drawings and observational paintings.
The children had a fantastic last week of term, they have enjoyed lots of fun activities such as icing biscuits, an egg hunt in our nursery garden and making Easter nests. The children described this as "the best day ever!"
Science week:
Last term, our focus has been on the British Science Week. Year 4 have enjoyed doing all sorts of experiments as well as exploring key Science vocabulary. For example, variables, hypothesis, predictions etc...
They were all very intrigued with the volcano experiment. We combined our whole school focus -recycling, with Science week by using up our empty, plastic water bottles and left over paper to build our volcano model. Once our models were complete, we went out onto the field and brought our volcano's to life- using bicarbonate of soda, washing up liquid and vinegar!
Last term some of our Year 4 children were lucky enough to sing in the SAPSMA concert at the Alban Arena. They all did amazing. Well done Year 4 :-)
A huge thank you to Kirby's Book Bugs :-)
Here at London Colney Primary & Nursery School we are taking part in the big plastic count. By joining thousands of people across the country and counting all the plastic we throw away during a week. Its easy, up until Sunday evening count as you throw :-)
Sounds like our Year 3 children had a fab time today at Celtic Harmony 😊
Its employee appreciation day today, here at London Colney Primary & Nursery School we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing staff :-)
For our World Book day we asked our children to choose their favourite book and make a display in a box to describe that book. Here is a selection of some of them, I think you will agree the children did an amazing job :-)
REMINDER - World Book Day is being held on Thursday the 7th of March. Your children can dress up as their favourite character from a book. Please do not go out and buy costumes. You could borrow, share, create your own or children can wear their own clothes to school that day.
Families Connect is a programme that is run here at London Colney Primary & Nursery School that is committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential. Evidence tells us that a positive home and learning environment contributes to a child's readiness to learn and has a positive impact on children's educational outcomes. The programme provides a series of activities, techniques and games that parents and carers can practice with their children. We focus on three key areas: social and emotional development, literacy and language development and numeracy and mathematics. Here are some of families taking part in the sessions.
Here at London Colney Primary & Nursery School we have some fantastic news about the latest additions to our team. A big shoutout to Katrina Ratcliff and Colette Knight as they kickstart their journey as teaching assistant apprentices. Sending them all the good vibes and best wishes for this exciting new chapter ahead.
And let's not forget Abby Hayes, who's stepping up as their mentor after acing her own Teaching Assistant Level 3 apprenticeship. Talk about an inspiring role model! With Abby's guidance and support, Katrina and Colette are in excellent hands.
Here's to cheering them on every step of the way. May their enthusiasm and dedication fuel their growth, and may they shine bright in their roles. We would also like to give a massive thank you to Shaw Trust Employment and Training Shaw Trust Ixion
We are holding Mother's Day assemblies on Friday the 8th of March. Please see details below.
