This is WW2 ace Bert Houle - who was also my great-great uncle. He fought in North Africa, Malta and Italy, shot down 13 1/2 N***s and was awarded two DFCs by King George at Buckingham Palace. Bert is the inspiration for my new graphic novel - and I love the illustration Tom created of my favourite photo of him front and centre 😄

Johnny Recruit is done, my 14-year-old son Theo and top artist Thomas Muzzell finished Johnny Recruit and it's now with Markosia Enterprises ready for print. Publisher Harry Markos is really pleased - and will now be released as hard cover 64-page graphic novel in May - which is an amazing commitment from them.
Theo's appeared on Canadian national TV including the CBC and CTV - and some early reviews from ThePullbox.com (4.5*) and 3 Million Years - Mobile & Digital Comics (4*) have been very favourable. What are the odds?
After my 14-year-old signed to publish Johnny Recruit with Markosia, his comic artist search led him to pro illustrator Thomas Muzzell. Whilst first discussing the project they realised they both had great uncles named "Bert" who'd fought in WWII. Tom's was in the Canadian Army (and at one point a German POW) and Theo's was an Air Force ace with over a dozen N**i kills. Both heroes inspired key scenes in their book.

Really pleased Theo’s signed a book deal with UK comics publisher Markosia. He’s 14 and worked hard scripting his WW2 graphic novel “Johnny Recruit” - with top Canadian illustrator Tom Muzzell bringing it to life.
