'Invaluable Tool' is a collective artwork by metalsmiths Helena Russell and Francisca Onumah, created for this year's Jerwood Art Fund Makers Open.
Starting off with a box of old silversmithing tools, the artists used this as a lens to learning more about the legacy of Sheffield's silversmithing industry, of where they are based. In turn this immersive work includes five emotive vessels, incorporating rust from these original tools to patinate them.
Featuring images of silversmiths and allied tradesmen, Francisca and Helena's work pays homage to and celebrates the craftsmanship of this trade.
