Rouge locksmiths are rife at the moment and I find myself going to at least 3 jobs a week in London where a fake locksmith or wanna be locksmith has attended and either couldn't open the door which is laughable or gave a price of 3 and 4 times the recommended national average. This picture is a picture of a standard cylinder lock, the tenant lost there keys and one of these so called £49 locksmiths after being sent a photo of this standard cylinder told the tenant that the lock was a high security lock and the charge was £260 to open the door, and then another £180 to fit another standard cylinder claiming it would be the same high security lock he would fit . I'm so tired of these rouge wanna be locksmiths ripping the heart out of this industry . They give all locksmiths a bad name. Unfortunately there is a huge pattern online when you search for an emergency locksmith you get all these £49 callout ads and 10 minute response , please beware and only use MLA , UKLA or checkatrade verified locksmiths. I did the gain entry job and changed the lock for £180 all in . The rouge locksmith would have been £440 saving the tenant £260 and I feel angry and disappointed that these people are ripping the heart out of this industry .
Please beware of these locksmiths and always use verified or recommend locksmiths.
