BBC NEWS has announced this morning that burst water main has affected supply to 2,000 properties and businesses in Glasgow. The burst has also caused flooding in the surrounding areas.
Pipe bursts can happen any time so it is important to know how to protect your business against them. Here are a number of steps you can do to limit the damage a burst pipe can do:
- ensure pipes are well-insulated
- keep the temperature in the building stable
- service the boiler regularly
- know where the water stop tap is
- allow warm air to enter the building
- tell your insurance providers
- insure your business against burst pipes
- inform clients about the disruptions
