With Valentine's day approaching in February, we have asked the parents to tell us why they love Northcote House, we will be asking the pre-school children too. Here is Emma telling us why she loves Northcote House.

The pre-school children have been learning about Remembrance day, following on from the different activities and the practitioners talking to the children the learning is embedded and they are able to recall their learning.

Today as part of the young investigator's group, the children have been making giant bubbles using washing up liquid and water.

A big Happy Birthday to our deputy manager and pre-school room leader Jim. We hope you are having a lovely day.

Here is our Hydroveg in the pre-school garden, the children have planted a range of vegetables. They check on the Hydroveg daily, making sure the water is flowing past the roots of the plants. The children understand the farm to fork process through the use of the Hydro veg by eating the vegetables grown in their lunch and tea.

Here is Kelly our Nursery Manager talking to us about the benefits of cooking. The toddler and pre-school children do cooking once a week. Cooking has many benefits for the children by incorporating weighing, measuring and quantities. It also links into Understanding of the World as cooking using different appliances from a variety of cultures and different foods. Children are also able to follow recipes and instructions. Why not try some cooking at home, we would love to see your pictures.

When the children went on a community walk they stopped at the local fishmonger. The fishmonger gave the children a lesson on fish.
