Enjoy a Christmas break with us this festive season…
Pre-book an all-inclusive stay over the Christmas period in one of our homes.
At MMCG, when someone is taking a short-term break with us, we want to give that person the confidence and individual support they need to retain their independence with the view to returning home, though permanent care may be sometimes considered in the longer term.
Our homes are filled with people who are passionate about care, and who we trust to put the happiness and wellbeing of residents at the heart of everything they do.

Did you know you can pre-book an all-inclusive stay in one of our homes?
Respite care plays a crucial role in supporting both caregivers and individuals in need of care, by promoting and improving the overall wellbeing of both parties.
A short break in one of our homes offers so much more than care too – providing an opportunity to take a break from everyday life and routine, make new friends, and enjoy meaningful activities and even day trips.
In addition to personalised care, heart-warming food and fantastic activities, you can expect:
- One-to-one quality time with your Companion
- A weekly salon appointment
- Sunday lunch or afternoon tea to share with a loved one
- A daily newspaper of choice

Celebrating 59 years of love!!
We had the pleasure of surprising our resident Joan, who together with her husband celebrated 59 years of marriage. They were left speechless as we had arranged private dining for them in the Home. They were treated to a three course meal and a celebratory cake and even a little dance to Frank Sinatra. It was truly special to be able to celebrate such milestone.
Africa Day celebrations return to Ashmead once again this year and our celebration was bigger than the last!
Staff and the people living with us had a wonderful time joining in on the fun, various outfits were shared among staff for them to wear. We had a culture table with items from various countries for staff and residents to explore and learn, everyone enjoyed various dishes for all parts of Africa, staff played traditional drums and all danced away into the afternoon. We are looking forward to an even bigger celebration next year.
Baking club in May!
Baking club is an activity the people living with us really enjoy and look forward to. Whether it is the actual baking or tasting their baked goods they enjoy more is debatable 😊
In May they baked jam tarts and chocolate cookies. They went down a treat at afternoon tea and was enjoyed by all! Looking forward to what they will be baking this month…
Cinco De Mayo celebrations were a great hit here at Ashmead as staff and residents alike joined in on the fun. We had a Mexican themed menu from Mexican corn soup as a starter to Tres Leches Cake for dessert. Our very own “Mariachi band” went around serenading the people living with us during the lunch service, perfect entertainment for our Mexican restaurants!
Recently, some of our colleagues attended the Care Home Awards on behalf of Maria Mallaband Care Group, where we picked up not one but TWO awards! 👏
We are beyond proud of every colleague at the company who has enabled us to do the work that we do and provide an exceptional level of care to those living with us.
We would also like to thank the Care Home Awards for hosting a wonderful ceremony where we were able to connect with other industry professionals and provide those hard-working individuals with the recognition they deserve. 🤗
Congratulations to Mariana Baciu, who has been shortlisted for this years Care Awards - we wish you the best of luck!

On International Women’s Day, we also celebrated our February Employee of the Month- RGN Mariana Baciu. Mariana works predominantly in Bluebell unit and has been recognised for all her hard work and commitment to making sure residents are well cared for and standards are maintained by the team of staff she works with. Well done Mariana!

On 8th of March we celebrated International Women’s Day with the women who live and work at Ashmead. It was a lovely afternoon of celebrations with wonderful entertainment by our singer and yummy cakes to go around. All the women in the home were treated to lovely roses as a token of appreciation. On this day, we also celebrated our Employee of the month for February- Mariana Baciu who is a nurse in Bluebell unit.
In January we started the first of our virtual bicycle competition. Across the last two months the people living with us have been peddling away and as we celebrate the Leap Year today, we celebrated our cycling champions too!
In first place was Keith who cycled 19km, second place was Muhammad who cycled 10km and in 3rd place was Barbara who cycled 6km. They were over the moon to have won their perspective places. Bit of healthy competition and a fun way to keep active 😊
Chinese New Year at Ashmead
Celebrating the year of the dragon.
We had a wonderful celebration of the Chinese New Year, which is something our residents look forward to every year. The residents enjoyed making Chinese lanterns during the Art & Crafts club and we had a celebratory Chinese themed lunch with traditional music for all to enjoy. Our selfie frame was a big hit with the residents too!
On National pizza day (9th of February 2024) our cooking club got together to make their very own pizzas for supper, not only for them but for other residents also. It was a lovey afternoon as the resident got creative with their toppings and of course the highlight was tasting their creations.
Food is a big part of life at Ashmead and our cooking and baking clubs are a big hit with the residents.
Who doesn’t love a sweet treat!?
For pancake day our residents had the chance to be creative with their pancakes by choosing the toppings they wanted. A pancake tasting trolley also went around to the residents in their rooms to enjoy also.
On this National Pet Day (20th February 2024) our therapy pet dog Rufus came to visit the residents of Ashmead.
Rufus is Cavapoo breed dog who is just over a year old and comes to visit the residents of Ashmead with his owner Penny. Safe to say Rufus was a big hit with the residents as they loved petting him and Rufus of coursed enjoyed all the love and attention from the residents.
There are many benefits to pet therapy from improving social skills, reduced risk of depression, reduced level of anxiety/ stress/ depression, to reduced feelings of loneliness to name a few. Having Rufus around certainly bought smiles to our residents and he is a specially welcomed guest at Ashmead.
National croissant day came around on the 30th January and our baking club got together to bake some croissants for all. The residents enjoyed making the croissant but more importantly, everyone enjoyed tasting them!
Out Baking Club got together to bake lamington cake in honour of Australia Day on the 26th January 2024. They took on a big challenge in trying out the lamington cake and had great fun making and tasting the fruit of their labour in the end.

It was an afternoon of fun, music, dancing and a practice countdown!

Merry Christmas from all at Ashmead Care Home.
Ashmead was full of smiley faces as we celebrated world smile day 2023 on the 6th of October. Our lifestyle coordinators went around the Home having a laugh and taking some amazing photos for the Best Smile competition.
We're really looking forward to celebrating Christmas at Ashmead Care Home.
We are bringing ‘more’ to the people living with us this December.
Everyone living with us are looking forward to our festivities and taking part in all the things we have planned.
Keep an eye on our social media platforms to see how we're celebrating this Christmas.
We look forward to seeing you over this festive period and celebrating together!
The Coronation was a very big day for all of us at Ashmead, both staff and residents alike. We wanted to express our excitement and well wishes to King Charles and Queen Camilla so staff and residents got very creative and made a card to send to their majesties. The card was filled with well wishes along with a letter from all of us at Ashmead wishing their majesties all the very best. It was a very pleasant surprise for us all when we received a response from their majesties appreciating the card we sent. Residents and staff were overjoyed with their response that it is now proudly on display in Ashmead for all to see. After all, it is not every day you get a card from the King and Queen!! 😊
Our 4th of July themed Summer BBQ.
The sun came out for our Summer BBQ and what a wonderful afternoon we had. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful food from BBQ, chicken to mac & cheese and grilled corn, finishing off with a very tasty American flag cake. We danced the afternoon away as our singer entertained everyone.
To celebrate international Beer Day we had a beer tasting session which went perfectly with the fish and chips lunch they all enjoyed. An afternoon of entertainment by a generous relative then follow for everyone to enjoy.
Sensory activities are an important part of lifestyle at Ashmead, specially for those living with dementia. During Aromatherapy week we turned our salon into a sensory room with various essential oils which were used for smelling, and gentle hand massages. For residents unable to visit the salon, we went to their rooms to make sure they too benefit from aroma therapy.
The residents really enjoyed it, so much so that they asked if this could be done again.
