At Wheeler & Kirk our mission is to unlock the potential of your vision and empower your self-expression. There is no better reward than seeing how happy our clients are after we’ve helped transform their eyesight and appearance.

Suffering from digital eye strain? follow our top tips below 👇🏼
1 Adjust your computer display settings 💻
- Brightness: Adjust the brightness in your display, so it's approximately the same as the brightness of your surrounding workstation.
-Text size and contrast: Adjust the text size and contrast for comfort, especially when reading or composing long documents.
-Colour temperature: Reducing the colour temperature of your display lowers the amount of blue light emitted by a colour display for better long-term viewing comfort.
2. Exercise your eyes 👀 : The 20- 20-20 rules we post about before. - To reduce your risk of tiring your eyes by constantly focusing on your screen, look away from your computer at least every 20 minutes and gaze at a distant object (at least 20 feet away) for at least 20 seconds.
3.Use proper lighting 💡 : Eye strain is often caused by excessively bright light from outdoor sunlight coming in through a window or harsh interior lighting. When you use a computer, your ambient lighting should be about half as bright as that typically found in most offices.
If the above tips won't help you with eye strain, please come and see us for a comprehensive eye exam 👀 - BOOK TODAY!
Rolling into the best days of summer 🔆
Some believe that Weekends are for bike rides 🚲 and we want to make sure nothing gets in the way of that - especially when it comes to your sight 👀
Cycling in your normal prescription glasses is possible, but you may occur the following problems. First, they won't block wind or bright light as effectively, as they'll have less wraparound and probably no tint. Second, if you cycle in the rain, drops on a prescription lens will distort your vision.
Be confident and safe during your rides with the correct eyewear, and our recommendations are below:
- Wear contact lenses and cycling glasses
- Cycling glasses that accept a clip-in prescription lens
- Prescription cycling glasses.
Come and see us in-store to talk to one of our friendly staff about the option that will work best for you.

⚠ TOP TIP POST ALERT ⚠
Eight on getting young children to wear sunglasses 👇🏼
1.GET THEM WEARING SUNGLASSES FROM A YOUNG AGE
There is no such thing as being too young when it comes to getting kids to wear sunglasses. The younger, the better. Not just because the younger they are, the more vulnerable their eyes are, but because wearing baby sunglasses becomes just a natural part of the going outside routine.
2. MAKE SURE THEY FIT COMFORTABLY
Having the right size makes all the difference. If they are too loose, they will fall off, too small, and they might feel uncomfortable or look awkward. Visit us in-store if you need help.
3. USE A STRAP TO HOLD THEM ON
It is sometimes easier for younger children to use a strap to avoid losing the glasses and taking them off.
4. TELL THEM HOW SUPER COOL THEY LOOK
Make a big deal of them wearing the glasses. If they feel confident, they are more likely to keep them on and want to wear them again.
5. DON’T PUSH IT
Try once or twice, but don’t push it! If you try too hard, they may never want to wear them again.
6. WEAR YOUR SUNNIES
Monkey see Monkey do – children love to copy adults. Be the role model. Wear your sunnies.
Comfort doesn’t have to be prioritised over style 🙌🏼
With a wide range of frames available in store, we have something for everyone👀

Clear sight is imperative for safe driving since almost 90% of our reaction ability while driving relies on it. Unfortunately, the ability to see clearly decreases at night.
Follow below to combat glare and cut down on vision impairment when driving at night :
👉🏼 Invest in Multi Anti Reflective lenses for your glasses 👓. These no-glare lenses will make your lenses more clear, allowing you to drive more comfortably at night.
👉🏼 Protect your eyes from glare 😎. Exposing yourself to glare during the day can temporarily affect your vision at night. Wearing sunglasses during the day will help.
👉🏼 Schedule an eye exam with us TODAY 📅. By receiving a comprehensive eye exam every year, you can ensure your eyesight is in top shape and get your glasses checked for scratched or smudged lenses.
👉🏼 Clean the exterior of your car 🚗. A proper scrubbing of all glass surfaces, including the windshield, windows, and mirrors, can reduce night-time glare.
👉🏼 Adjust your car's mirrors 🧹. Certain positioning of a car's mirrors can reduce glare: While sitting in the driver's seat, lean to the right and tilt your head until it rests against the window. From that position, adjust the driver's side mirror to see the left rear corner of the vehicle.
👉🏼 Turn off your interior lights 💡. Lights inside your car can seem extra bright and make it more difficult to see.
👉🏼 Flip your rear-view mirror 🚗. Turn your review mirror to night mode by flipping the small lever at the bottom of the mirror.
