An ETG Event: Sri Lanka at Home Yesterday evening we were delighted to welcome some of our community and travel enthusiasts for an event all about Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 First, @brookestagrams, the award-winning writer gave a wonderful talk (almost an ode) about Sri Lanka and read from his brilliant book, ‘An Island's Eleven: The Story of Sri Lankan Cricket’. Then, @sashanugara (reporter at the Times) and @adrianbridge (travel writer), discussed their own personal experiences of the island, why it's so special and the highlights everyone should experience in Sri Lanka. We also served arrack cocktails and Sri Lankan snacks (‘short eats’) to celebrate seeing so many faces in our recently refurnished office! Luang Prabang, Laos 🇱🇦 The next stop on ETG's Sara's trip through Laos was the country's former royal capital, Luang Prabang. Mekong River Cruise, Laos 🇱🇦 After zip-lining her way through Nam Khan National Park, Sara's next stop was Luang Prabang, and what better way to travel than on a boat along the Mekong River. For two days Sara cruised along the Mekong from Huang Xia to the capital, stopping for an overnight stay in Pakbeng 🌴 A few facts about The Mekong: 🌏 The Mekong flows through 6 countries: China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. 🏞️ It's the same size as Texas and Arkansas combined (200 million acres) and has some of the most biologically diverse habitats in the world. 💬 The River has many different names, with very different meanings which range from "Mother of Water" to "Nine Dragons", which represent the nine branches of the river in the delta.
