This is the largest stage I’ve ever played on. It was a great camping experience in my home territory of Reigate/Redhill. It was good to see old friends & bump into people I went to school with! RedEyeZack Supporting Will G Jones (The Gas) I had a wonderful invitation to play guitar for Will G Jones (The Gas) frontman - We had a couple of informal rehearsals & i was happy to add some texture to an acoustic performance. It’s always interesting for me to work with songwriters I admire… I hope to support more original music independent songwriters. It was great to team up with Ben again, this time as a trio. Collaborating with musicians we follow & meet up at many open mic events seems like a natural progression, this is how bands are formed & It’s always good to have stand in musicians for ocassions when someone in the band can’t do the gig. Enjoyed my first jam session for a long time. This takes place on the 1st Sunday of the month at The Tavern, Horley. A good backline of musicians to support you in any song you'd like to play. The focus was on blues but some other popular songs were also performed. Good for practicing your chops (not meat) but guitar rhythmic chops :) We played 'Thrill Is Gone' BB KIng Enjoy the performance! Updates on Projects & Plans for Summer I had a successful first gig as RedEyeZack - As you can see I’m wearing the Bindi/Tikka and making an effort to get my act together. This gig was a milestone which is very positive and it looks like cosmic forces are working to take things forward. Many thanks to Ben Campbell for making this memorable & joining me on-stage. Dynamic Duos Since our RedEyeZack & Friends collective at HMV, I’ve been thinking of taking it to the next level. I’m looking to create the next collective event before the end of March! In the meantime looking at other venues and new collaborators. Here is a very talented guitarist, Alex Turner, I came across at The Brewery Shades ( I tip my hat to Ian Burroughs and Nicky for putting on such a wonderful Summer of live music in the square). INTRODUCING: ANDREW WILLIAMS CLIP FROM OUR EVENT AT HMV CRAWLEY VIDEO UPDATE Andrew Williams aka DJ Drew, RedEyeZack, HMV, Crawley. I first met Andrew at an open mic about 5 years ago when I first moved into the Crawley area. It was a small independent cafe called the Blazian lounge. We got chatting after his performance of some classic soul tunes. Soul Singer & DJ I was checking out the local music scene and started bumping into Andrew. He was pretty active honing his vocal skills as well as getting his mixes together on SoundCloud for DJ Drew gigs. Setlist For HMV We looked at a list of 5-6 songs. Some of them I really loved but had never really looked into learning. My background was really folk, pop and more recently... Rock (whilst going electric these last 2 years), so it was fun for me to learn new material. GUITAR IMPROV: Enjoy this laid back solo. All done with live Looper track. This is one of those songs that is great for looping, as it has 4 chords that go round and round without any changes. I'm building up a repertoire of these as I think it could be great to perform in spaces without vocals & utilising some special effects. An art gallery or some kind of theatrical space where the sound could echo and be heard from adjacent rooms.
