This weekend! ‘The Planet Is _____’ is a new verbatim musical about climate justice, friendship and what it means to be an activist. It’s the 29th June 2022, the day after the Police, Crimes, Sentencing and Courts Bill has come into effect in the UK. Meg and Tash, two young climate activists, decide to document how protest is affected in the next year. A lot can happen in a year. This is their story. Written by Meg McGrady and Natasha Pavey , the show has been created from poetry written and interviews captured between June 2022 and June 2023. Praise for Meg McGrady’s Previous Work ‘The Phase’: **** “Meg McGrady’s score is upbeat and lively at times and filled with emotion at others.” - Lost In Theatreland **** “It is a complete delight to experience a new British musical with both a catchy and structurally sophisticated score that matches its quick, witty and emotionally intelligent book pound for pound.” - All That Dazzles 📆17th and 18th May 📍Theatre Deli London ⭐️Part of Our Shift+Space Program 🎟 PWYC https://bit.ly/TDThePlanetIs Video Description: Meg and Tash are wearing yellow outfits, they dance and sing into a mic on stage and discuss climate anxiety.

🏳️#ShiftSpace Another Flag 🏳️ This Friday and Saturday - last few tickets remaining! “Another Flag” by @dia_tria is a live, multimedia performance in solidarity with visual artist Georgia Lale’s artwork ‘Flag (2021)’, and in response to the censorship imposed on the artwork by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday 18th December 2023. It is an attempt to collectively re-create the fabric that embodies a cohesive society that is safe for women and artists while fighting against the existing patriarchy. A dynamic and healing synthesis of fabrics, words, textiles, chants, physical movements and sounds that together builds a multifaceted vision and soundscape as a form of protest against gender based violence and the systemic suppression of artistic freedom of expression based on extreme, nationalist rhetoric. “Another Flag” is an activist piece about empowering women and re-constructing a safer world for them through collective artistic creation. @paasteli @miiamakila @kat_sot 📅19th and 20th April 📍Theatre Deli London 🎟️PWYC Video description: Miia a white woman with blonde hair from Finland is part of the Dia Tria collective talks about the making of the piece Another Flag.

🐦‍⬛Don’t miss Black Bird by @jaelonkennedy 🐦‍⬛ With inspiration from William Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth, “Black Bird” is a commentary on and a reflection of the act of freedom and liberation against the harsh judgements and stereotypes bestowed upon Black women. In the midst of the continuous subjection to racism and the scolding of our distinctiveness from whiteness but also our proximity to it as well, Black Women are seen as anomalies. Like Macbeth, a woman coined as ruthless and filled with anger, Black Women have unwillingly adopted these terms by society and have been forced to lower ourselves in a multitude of ways because of it. “Black Bird” works to amplify the reasons behind societal attitudes about Black Women and serves as a moment of catharsis for the internal feelings that can’t always be expressed by Black women. 🗓️12th and 13th April 7pm 📍Theatre Deli London (nearest stations Bank and Aldgate) 🎟️Pay what you can (link in bio) #ShiftSpace Video Description: quotes in white on a black background, including ‘you’ll never be fit to be a queen’ ‘she’s nothing but an angry black woman’ ‘she’s nothing but a black bird’ ‘ you ain’t never gonna fly’ then a close up of Jaelon a black woman performing in her show Black Bird. Invisible Targets by /theinfluencerTK 5th, 6th April PWYC tickets - https://bit.ly/InvisibleTargetsTD Our new #ShiftSpace season kicks off with "Invisible Targets" a piece which critically examines the treatment of pregnant bodies within the Western healthcare system, with a specific focus on the experiences of women who have endured stillbirth. The performance seamlessly integrates movement, storytelling, and objects to bring these narratives to life. In this devised solo performance, a grieving mother attempts to unravel the events during her hospital stay, where her child was stillborn. This piece juxtaposes the stark realities of the medical healthcare system with the intimate journey of a bereaved mother navigating societal stigma. Informed by a report from Mothers’ Voices and the Ockenden Review, an investigation of two maternity services in England, as well as auto-ethnographic experiences, this performance examines maternity care and the taboo surrounding the topic of stillbirth. "Timna’s performance was powerful and inspiring expressed through physical theatre. The themes of grief were performed with such sensitivity and deep emotion, it really moved me". - Diana D ****** SHIFT+SPACE This performance is part of the SHIFT+SPACE programme Theatre Deli’s SHIFT+SPACE programme is a free performance opportunity for artists to present their work that needs an audience to develop, where artists keep 100% of the Box Office! Applications are currently open for the next season. Video Description - a split screen with close up shots of bare skin while a poem is performed. One side is more dimly lit than the other. On both sides sometimes ribs can be seen through the skin.

🖼️Seen our new artist of the month exhibition in the cafe? ☕️ Jasmine Kahlia has been invited by Theatre Deli to exhibit work as part of the Artist of the Month scheme. Jasmine’s proud to platform contributing artists @jairozaldua , Nicola Green, @jesusgophoto , Apparan, @strangeartist.isa , @ternuraysuavidad and @catalinaf.riofrio . Over the past eight years, Jasmine Kahlia’s visually arresting and superb pieces have received critical recognition. A large number of the pieces on show will be exhibiting for the first time. This collection is a display of excellence and a fight against adversity. “There was a point in my life where I could only afford a few tubes of paint for an exhibition. This meant that I had to choose colours carefully and I went with Red, Yellow and White. I later bought some black and gold pens and developed my signature style. Working with limited colours is also reflect of societal limitations constantly placed on me. I’ve begun with limited resources, but managed to always create something significant with what I’ve had in front of me.” All Jasmine Kahlia pieces will be sold at £50, £100 or £150. On the day we will accept cheque, card or cash. All purchased pieces will be sent out by courier on 1 Mar 2024.

The Cycle by Vilma Jackson Productions @vcrj90_productions We are pleased to present a screening and Q&A of the powerful short film The Cycle on 23rd February as part of the continuing legacy of our Social Model and More festival last year. 'The Cycle,' is a psychological drama centred around a Black Deaf woman who endures the haunting trauma of domestic violence. Immerse yourself in her daily thoughts and emotions as she copes with her traumatic experiences. A Black Deaf woman is caught up in domestic violence and lost in translation. She's lonely. In fact, abused and trapped in silence by her abuser. The trauma she experiences from the abuse means she is unable to live a normal life. Until one day, she builds up the courage and grabs an opportunity. Police officers arrive at her house. Will she be heard? Will the police protect her? Or will she be another statistic? Things do not turn out the way she expected. Video description: A trailer for the short film The Cycle. Shot in a very psychological horror style with the words, you descend into the unknown, will she be heard or will she be another statistic. There are shots of the protagonist, a Black Deaf woman with injuries on her face, she meets dismissive police officers.
