We know turmeric is calming for the gut and reduces inflammation. Also apples which are stewed for at least 10 minutes will create pectin. We know pectin is anti inflammatory & healing for the gut and immune system. It helps feed the microbes in the gut and keeps the lining healthy. Also has an anti inflammatory effect throughout the body. I find that this makes enough for 2 people. I like to add almond butter (supports good blood sugar levels) as does cinnamon, kefir for added probiotics and pumpkin seeds which are a good source of zinc. Beautiful delicious and calming ❤️🙏🏼 Posted @withrepost • @aryasplate coconut chai banana bread 🥥☕️🍌 our family chai (reunion) time this afternoon featured two of my favourite bakes: this bread and nankhatai (spiced shortbread biscuits), both of which were spiked with a good dose of chai spice for my mum and brother, who are fellow chai fiends (clearly related). here’s the recipe for my chai banana bread - I use @chaibymira’s coconut chai spice for its lovely flavour & texture but you could also use a homemade blend of classic chai spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg & ginger with some desiccated coconut. recipe: 225g all purpose flour 3 large or 4 medium ripe bananas, mashed 75g coconut sugar 75ml canola/rapeseed oil 1 tsp vanilla extract 1.5 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda add-ins: 2 tsp @chaibymira coconut chai spice (plus more to sprinkle on top) preheat oven to 180C. mash bananas well in a bowl, then add the sugar, oil, and vanilla extract. mix well to combine. add the flour, baking powder & baking soda along with the chai spice. fold to combine until just incorporated but don’t over-mix or the bread will become gummy. fold in chopped nuts/chocolate/add-ins of choice (optional), then sprinkle more chai spice on top. bake in the oven on the middle rack for 45-55 mins, or until the top is golden-brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. leave to cool in the tin for around 15 mins, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Posted @withregram • @aryasplate chai-spiced turmeric & mango millet porridge 🥭☕️ this nutty, warming & antioxidant-rich number is a great way to switch up your regular oatmeal bowl. recipe (1 bowl): 40g millet flakes 200ml liquid (I used half soy milk, half water) 1 tsp @chaibymira turmeric chai spice blend (if you don’t have this, sub with your favourite chai spice + 1/4 tsp turmeric + pinch of black pepper) 1/2 tsp maca powder pinch of ground cardamom toppings: fruit, nuts, pinch of extra chai spice bring millet flakes/grain of choice to a boil with the liquid, and add your spices. reduce to a simmer and stir constantly until the porridge reaches your desired consistency - it should take under 5 mins. when it’s done, stir through the maca powder, making sure no clumps remain. serve with some fresh fruit (I recommend mango!), crushed walnuts on top + a pinch of extra chai spice for good measure.
