🔄 Embracing Circularity: A Call to Action 🔄 Circularity isn't just a buzzword—it's a necessity for our planet's future. Over the last few years, discussions around circular business, design, consumption, and policy have surged. Yet, we're still far from achieving widespread circular practices. Innovation is happening, but it's not yet the norm. From electronics to fashion, brilliant experiments are underway, but they remain exceptions. Shockingly, only 8.6% of the 100 billion tonnes of materials entering the global economy are recycled annually. 📲💻 🌍 What Can Design Do? 🌍 Design holds immense power in shaping sustainable products and services from the get-go. Yet, many businesses haven't fully embraced it for their sustainability journey. It's time for a change. Design must be integrated into every step, as around 80% of a product's environmental impact is determined during its design phase. 💡 Challenges and Solution 💡 From linear business models to a lack of skills in designing for circularity, challenges abound. But there's hope. Initiatives like our Re-Industry program aim to bridge these gaps. Through collaborative projects, upskilling designers, and integrating policy into design, we can accelerate the shift towards mass-scale circularity. 📈 Join us in this movement towards a more sustainable future. Together, we can design an economy that benefits both people and the planet. 🌱🌐 Read the LATEST blog post from our Programme Lead, Hugo Jamson here > https://bit.ly/3UtcIZk --- #CircularEconomy #DesignForChange #Sustainability

"...globally and nationally we need to do more to protect both consumers and natural resources by extending product lifecycles." A great quote from Baroness Hayman as she brought the Right To Repair bill to the attention of the UK House of Lords. #CircularEconomy #RepairableDesign

‘Everyone wants to tackle climate change, but on a day-to-day basis, it's very hard for people to […] work out how they can do that. If we offer them cheaper energy bills and healthier houses […], then I think we've got a real chance of making progress with people.’ --- Find out how obtaining a Design Code can help you deliver multiple benefits.
