Having toured across the globe with Cuban music legends Septeto Santiaguero and Sur Caribe and now established in London, these exceptionally gifted musicians have curated a repertoire of the smoothest, grooviest and most evocative pieces from the traditional Cuban songbook. This month we’ve commissioned an original piece of artwork by the graphic designer, typographer and art director Dave Towers @t_o_w_e_r_s. We have long been fans of his playful, hand-painted, graffiti-like word art, so for him to create something just for us at Isabel Mayfair is really special. The piece he has created for us, called LOVE, will be the feature artwork on our menus this month. Since opening in 2017, at number 26 Albemarle Street, Isabel remains one of the most distinctive restaurants and bars in Mayfair. It sits in a grand pocket of Central London, an area with a rich and illustrious history. The building dates back to 1905 and the facade is one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts inspired architecture, popular at the time. One of the earliest occupants of the building was Charles Mellier, a furniture dealer and manufacturer selling period English and French furniture. It could be said that style and good taste is literally in Isabel’s foundations. In the early 20th century, the space Isabel now occupies was a car showroom (pictured here in black and white) for Lendrum and Hartman – the only British dealers of Buick and Cadillac cars.
