🔔 🌍 Attention, leaders who aspire to shape the future

We're excited to partner up with WolfPak in a project that's set to redefine leadership development. Thank you Katia Murmann Amirhosseini, Diana Engetschwiler, Cosmin Sofron, and Andreea Ibănescu for making this journey possible.

We're in the final phase of designing the WolfPak Next Gen Leadership Assessment. The instrument is based on the scientifically backed ‘Inner Development Goals Framework’, which is key to achieving the ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ adopted by all United Nations Member States.

Your input is valuable to us. We need YOUR insights to make it exceptional.

The assessment takes about 15-20 minutes. Once you complete it, our team of organisational psychology experts will analyze the science and statistics behind your responses, crafting a personalised leadership report just for you.

As we are still in the validation process, the report will be ready in a few weeks. Our hope is that the report will help you understand your strengths and areas for growth and pave your path in tomorrow's dynamic leadership landscape.

We look forward to charting this course with you!

It was fantastic to join the 5th edition of the "Coaching for L&D" project of the L&D SHAKERS community through which Andreea delivered over 20 hours of coaching to L&D professionals all over the world! Such initiatives bring meaning to our work, and we're extremely grateful to see the overall impact of this edition 💙

11/05/2023

Yesterday's Career Compass Session hosted by Andreea for the L&D SHAKERS community was a blast! In a group coaching format, participants reflected on their past first in order to pinpoint some of the strengths that helped them achieve a great success. This self-awareness of the things that we're good at and make us happy when honouring them because they give us energy and vitality is the foundation of growth and development. So, based on that, participants then looked into the future and crafted a SMART career goal they'd like to tackle next. On top of that, they identified ways to capitalise both on their strengths, and on other community resources like mentoring to achieve them. ✨

As one of the attendees mentioned, setting goals doesn't happen by magic. It takes intentionality and reflection. So, if you're currently sitting at a professional crossroads or would like to get more clarity on your professional development journey, let's talk about how coaching can help you with that! 🎯

Last week we attended the New Rules for Work online symposium and it was a great learning experience! We were amazed at the thought-provoking questions raised and the multi-disciplinary approach brought forward by such a diverse pool of presenters. As promised, they included experts from various fields, ranging from professional facilitators to business leaders, technologists, global change agents or published scientists.

Holding everything under the umbrella of creative teams in pursuit of a brighter future, we explored an impressive amount of topics. To name just a few, we looked at:
🤸‍♀️ How to bring more into our work.
💻 How might curb creativity and innovation.
🧐 How the environmental brings human beings together, fuelling interaction and driving conversation.
🌍 and the distinction between sustainable and regenerative practices.
👥 techniques that drive speedy connection and creativity.
🧠 The brain mechanisms underlying social connection and the application of to promote team chemistry and leadership.
🧡 The concept of .
👩‍💼 👨‍💻 and the tools to optimise it.

It'll take a while to unpack everything and we're definitely keeping a close eye on how the experiment will unfold. A big thank you to Elise, Dave, all the speakers and the team behind the scene for creating the space for this!

Use your sense of humour wisely at work: The Wheel Model of Humor

This research paper looks at how humor can be used to create a positive work environment. It suggests that jokes or funny stories have the potential to build up over time and lead to increased happiness and well-being among employees.

The model suggests that humor-induced positive affect can also help bring mentor/protégé dyads together by creating a bond between them through shared positive emotions. This in turn encourages further interaction, as people feel more connected and comfortable with each other due to their shared experience.

It's important to remember that humor can be a powerful tool in creating a positive work environment, but it should be used with caution, as not all types of humor are appropriate in a professional setting. The Wheel Model of Humor is useful in highlighting the importance of being mindful of the type of humor used, and choosing words that are positive, inclusive and respectful, and also making sure that the humor will not hurt or offend any of your colleagues.

Give the Wheel Model of Humor a spin and see how it can help create a positive and productive work environment!

Happy Holidays everyone! ✨

As we close out another year, it's important to reflect on all the challenges and obstacles we've faced and how we've managed to be resilient in the face of them.

This year has definitely tested our empathy and ability to adapt, but it's also given us the opportunity to be curious about the world around us and how we can navigate it in a better way.

As we look towards the future, let's remember to be kind and understanding towards ourselves and others. It's been a tough year for everyone, and a bit of compassion can go a long way.

Looking for some inspiration and guidance as we head into the new year? We hope you'll consider connecting with our team at The Inner View to continue your personal and professional growth, develop new skills, and find more effective ways to work and collaborate.

Empathy is a crucial skill in the workplace. It can help you build strong, positive relationships with your coworkers, improve your problem-solving skills, and become a better leader.

Here are a few steps you can take to start practicing empathy:

🎄 Pay attention to your own emotions and how they affect your behaviour. By better understanding your own feelings, you'll be better equipped to understand the emotions of others.

🎄Listen actively to others when they are speaking. This means giving them your undivided attention and trying to understand their perspective, even if you don't agree with them.

🎄Put yourself in other people's shoes. Try to imagine how they might be feeling and what their experiences and perspectives might be.

🎄Ask open-ended questions to learn more about others' thoughts and feelings. This will help you better understand their perspective and show them that you care about what they have to say.

🎄Practice empathy on a regular basis, even in small interactions. The more you practice, the better you will become at understanding and relating to others.

By practicing empathy, you can improve your work and your relationships with others. Give it a try and see the difference it can make!

It is natural for people to get defensive when they feel criticised, but choosing the right words might be the difference between resolving the problem and exacerbating it.

When providing feedback, one of the most common ways to make someone feel defensive and resentful is to use "you-statements" rather than sentences framed as "I-feel statements."

🔻 You don't care about me.
🔻 You don't help out enough.
🔻 You never tell me how you're feeling.

“You-statements” make others feel that you are punishing them.

An “I-feel statement” allows you to take responsibility for what you're thinking and feeling and prevents you from blaming others. Starting a sentence with “I feel” helps you talk about difficult feelings, say how the problem is affecting you and stops others feeling blamed.

Be cautious of hidden "you" statements. "I feel like you're taking me for granted". That's just a "you-statement" disguised. It implies blame, but no actual feeling is expressed.

So, how would you rephrase - “You can’t keep coming to work so late! It’s so inconsiderate!” - to avoid blaming the other person?

How aware are you of the central role your thinking plays in your response to a situation?

04/11/2022

Collective decision-making is not always easy in our complex, fast-moving world. This is where come into play.

If you want your team to select the best possible solution and make sound decisions benefiting all their stakeholders, keep an eye out for the following:

Discuss your team's goal so that members reach a 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 of what they want to achieve together.

🔢 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐬 on what has to be done by considering more than just a single course of action and looking into different alternatives.

🧠 Be mindful of 𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 when analysing solutions, such as a risky or a caution shift after group discussions.

🤔 Include a 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤-𝐮𝐩 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧.

Every team is a unique entity, with a life of its own.

For members to adopt change, be more agile and innovate, sometimes an outside perspective makes all the difference.

Increasing the effectiveness of team meetings requires an understanding of and strong skills in group dynamics, meeting facilitation, and consensus building tools.

Facilitation skills matter a lot

Facilitative behaviours and skills are essential for anyone who aspires to work cooperatively in groups. Staff members, managers, trainers, or coaches may benefit from developing their facilitation skills and serving as a dialogue guide for their team in order to:

⭕ Help people work together effectively.
⭕ Lead productive group meetings.
⭕ Conduct effective workshops or coaching interventions.

⚠️ The costs of not having well-honed facilitation skills may result in a group scenario in which people constantly interrupt one other and have difficulties listening to each other's ideas.

⚠️ Differences of opinion may be perceived as conflict, simple questions as personal attacks, and team members may gossip behind one other's backs outside of meetings.

⚠️ Some members may not stand up for their beliefs even if they disagree, may not understand rationale for decisions, or they may space out and not engage fully.

Get in touch with us to see how you can bring facilitation into your team processes for better outcomes.

❓ What are some of our assumptions and beliefs about feedback, learning and performance?
❓How can we help others and ourselves excel using the language of feedback for growth?
❓What are some essential techniques to get stakeholders buy-in and support throughout our projects?

These were some of the topics we explored recently with the FRISS team in a couple of inspiring workshops where
👀 curiosity,
🗣️ sharing,
👐 and togetherness were key drivers of learning.

After all the thought-provoking questions, it looks like the team can identify, re-create, refine and expand what's already working well for them when it comes to these topics. 🚀

A big thank you to everyone who participated, it was fantastic to facilitate this learning experience!
