When we’re called to a gas emergency at a customer’s home, our engineers will always make the situation safe. If the issue is with a faulty appliance or internal pipework, we must isolate the appliance or supply until it’s repaired or replaced by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Many vulnerable households are unable to meet this unexpected cost or find it challenging to arrange a repair, meaning they are forced to remain off supply longer than necessary.
Our Care and Repair scheme provides emergency funding to ensure vulnerable households are not left without gas indefinitely because they can’t afford the unplanned repair or replacement.
We work with Gas Safe registered engineers from Universal Gas Solutions Ltd who will repair or replace the faulty appliance or pipework, or service the appliance as required. Working with a trusted Gas Safe registered organisation ensures our customers can be supported within the first 24 hours of their gas going off.

Our swift and efficient response to the recent no gas incident in Oxford. Mobilising within a couple of hours of receiving the request for support, our dedicated team of engineers and management have been working alongside SGN, ensuring that customers' supplies were restored as quickly and safely as possible.
Safety checks on meters and appliances were diligently carried out before relighting them, ensuring complete safety and reliability for customers whilst prioritising those in vulnerable situations.

Project Success Story: Positive East Charity Boiler Upgrade
We are excited to share a recent project at Universal Gas Solutions! Our team recently completed a commercial boiler change for Positive East a remarkable charity based in London.
While we encountered some unforeseen challenges during the project, our dedicated team persevered over the weekend to reduce downtime at the charity and ensured that every obstacle was overcome. Through hard work and determination, we achieved a seamless boiler upgrade, much to the satisfaction of our client.
The team at Positive East expressed their delight with the outcome, and we couldn’t be happier to have played a part in supporting such a vital organisation. We’re proud to contribute to the reliability and efficiency of their facilities.

We're excited to announce that we are hiring for a Gas Metering Engineer (Low & Medium Pressure) to join our Metering Team! As a Gas Metering Engineer, you'll be responsible for installing, removing, and exchanging Industrial and Commercial gas metering systems in line with Company and Industry standards. In addition, you may also need to carry out site surveys.
We are looking for someone with previous experience in the metering industry who has worked with low and medium gas pressures. The ideal candidate is someone who has a very good understanding/knowledge of these pressures and is good at resolving these issues.

We recently kicked off our 2024 Upskilling Programme by welcoming back Dave Palmer from Geberit to our office. With our workload steadily increasing, we're always on the lookout for innovative ideas and techniques to reduce our time on site without compromising quality or compliance. That's why we're excited to announce that over 30 of our engineers are now trained to carry out installations using Geberit Mapress on both upstream and downstream pipework. Thank you, Dave Palmer and Geberit, for helping us stay ahead of the curve!
Our engineers are working daily to ensure that gas supplies are safe and compliant to protect life and property. One of our First Call Operatives Gemma Cocoran found this dangerous installation in the heart of Central London. Thankfully, it was immediately made safe, bypass removed and gas supply disconnected. It will now be passed across to the relevant teams for an investigation.

We were honored to receive a request to assist the Waltham Forest Black People’s Mental Health Association, a cornerstone in the community that found itself in urgent need. Their 28-year-old range cooker, crucial for their daily operations, was disconnected due to safety concerns, posing a significant challenge to their important work.
Understanding the unique situation and the organisations invaluable contribution to mental health, Cadent’s local management made a compassionate decision to step beyond typical eligibility criteria. They fully funded the replacement of the cooker, ensuring the association could continue its vital services without disruption.
This initiative highlights the power of partnership and shared values, showcasing how together, Universal Gas Solutions and Cadent, can extend our reach and impact, touching lives and supporting those in need in real and tangible ways.

When water found its way into the gas main in Milton Keynes, it could have spelled prolonged trouble for many. However, our engineers alongside SGN demonstrated what swift, decisive action looks like. Mobilising quickly to the site, they efficiently removed water from meters, internal pipework, and appliances, ensuring customers could be safely and swiftly reconnected.
The feedback we've received has been nothing short of outstanding. It's a testament to the team's dedication and skill in transforming a potentially negative situation into a positive outcome.

Exciting news! We are trialling the Kane 458s & Kane 79 on CMDDA1 investigations. Our trial lead, Conrad, is thrilled to be part of this initiative. Our goal is to reduce the overall time spent in customers' houses without compromising the quality of the investigation. Rest assured, every customer will receive a detailed report on possible causes for CO alarm activation. Stay tuned for updates on the trial.
Fact: we’ve carried out over 750 CMDDA1 investigations in the past 12 months.

Our engineers will be working throughout the Christmas period responding to gas & heating emergencies for our customers. Keeping you warm at home with family and friends on Christmas Day.
This morning our team were replacing gas pipes to the ground, first and second floor flats in Essex. by midday their gas supplies were restored.
Our team of engineers across the UK offered their support when they found out about the recent incident in Sheffield that affected gas supplies to over 2000 properties during one of the coldest weeks so far this year. We immediately mobilised over 10 engineers to support Cadent Gas to remove water from meters, pipework and internal appliances. This was a fantastic collaboration between all companies involved. Hats go off to all of the engineers and management who worked tirelessly through morning and night to get the supplies back on before Christmas 🎄

Welcoming a new apprentice into our team this week. Kaan has proven to be a keen, enthusiastic individual with a “can-do” attitude since we met him a few weeks ago. On completion of his apprenticeship he will be a fully competent Gas Safe registered engineer who will continue to grow and develop within our organisation.

This is a really good example of why appliances should be inspected and serviced regularly. Even more so in commercial catering environments where the appliances are subject to heavy usage and prone to grime and dirt inside the burners leading to incomplete combustion. Our customer was very pleased we were able to identify the safety issue and resolve it during the same visit.
