During science lesson two children were arguing as they wanted a battery and bulb to complete their circuit as a science experiment. The teacher mentioned at the beginning of the lesson that children may need to share as we don’t have enough equipment available to facilitate all the children. child A didn’t have enough equipment to create a circuit as the bulb and battery was missing due to his frustration and began swearing and insulting the child for not giving him a chance to use the equipment. Eventually Child A got up and snatched the equipment from child B leaving him crying and physically hit his arm as he tried to grab the circuit back, I then stopped this conflict and explained to the children that the action is wrong and they should understand that they must share the equipment as the teacher mentioned at the beginning. I also explained that they must take turns and that if there isn’t enough equipment they should wait until it is available. Fighting physically is not going to resolve the situation but it is going to hurt the child’s feelings.
