So I’ve gone to the dark side and bought myself a surfski…..it’s ace! Just up my street as an aging surf dweller. I’ve been on it a few times in the surf and it’s great. Also been on a few solo trips and it can shift faster than my seakayak. Easier to transport to the beach too! A trip from Falmouth to St Anthony’s Lighthouse was 7km or so it took me 1hour so a lot faster than my Scorpio seakayak.

June was supposed to be a nice solo around the Orme and back! This turned into a battle against the tide and 25 mph winds (Bf5) Some learning outcomes though!🤣

So some kayaking this year. April started off with a few days down in Cornwall. Really windy 20-30mph with 2m of swell, and 6-7ft waves. Me and Simon set off from Newquay towards Trevose head. Unfortunately conditions turned for the worst so we headed back. No pics too windy! Day 2 was as bad so a quieter route up Carrick Roads and into Truro was required. Day 3 was blowing 38mph (Bf7) so we walked around the Lizard. The day we left was peaceful, typical!
