This year so far I have focused on Pastel sketches, these can take a couple of hours unlike the acrylic paintings which can take weeks or even months to complete.

+ The River Irk, Collyhurst, a River that holds the past like my Canvas holds the paint, like my mind holds an idea..this idea, prompted by a visit with Martin Zero , the Culvert, once an open watercourse , a tailrace for water wheels, water being provided by both the river at a weir and the Moss Brook, such a small area of massive industrial ideas and innovation.

+ For the past X-amount of years i have been writing a book in my head ... i say book but its more thoughts and feelings about being a struggling Artist and how via my Art many doors have been opened, and in turn slammed in my face, how the urge to create ultimately leads to self destruction. Stories of unimaginable joy and periods of terrible despair, i have never been able to come up with a title for these stories so i shall be writing them in letter format, i am heavily influenced by the life and work of L.S Lowry and the letters sent by Vincent van Gogh to his brother , i in no way compare myself or my Art to Lowry or Vincent but i feel a kinship with their struggle, the pressure we put on our selves to attain the illusion of success and to fit in with an ever changing world.
As i take a step back from drawing and painting I'm finally going to start this and i totally understand that you probably came here to see visual Art and from time to time i will still post visual art that i feel compliments the writings.
This project will start later today with "Dear Laurence" 😊
