1970s house, fireplace removed and cleaned out,
Hearth stone installed, wall re skimmed and skirting board reinstated,
Ready for installation of a Bioethanol fire.

A few from the last couple of days, patching and blending, lime plaster repairs

Coving, in a bedroom!? It does soften the look of the room that’s for sure!👌

So I received some after pictures from this job, It’s always nice to see how these jobs turn out once I’ve moved on👌

Not very often I’m at full stretch but these are bigger than average!
Walls skimmed today, 3m high!

It’s been over 2 weeks since Sycamore Gap lost its tree forever. This evening the sky is crystal clear and would have been the perfect time to venture up there to photograph the tree under the stars. We just have memories now though, like this photo I took from last winter. The tree is lit by a random hiker with a headlamp at the top of the hill on the left.

An away fixture today, skimming only, lovely feature in this one! to break up a very large ceiling.

Attic Stairwell and corridor, ceiling boarded and skimmed, staircase wall soundproofed skimmed, remaining walls re finished.

On an away fixture, and isla Williams is hard at again!

Don't do this everyday, makes a nice change.
Cast iron downpipes removed and replaced, new rainwater gully and re pointed around damp area.

So the brief was, lower the ceiling to match the other room as the coving (big stuff) will look odd if we don't.

Garden wall, sand and cement rendered.

So the brief was,
Stop the soot stains coming through and replaster the chimney breast.
Renew the Skirting to match existing which meant matching into sand and cement Skirting that was formed in the 1920's!
And could the skirting have the same kid of patina as the old!
Definitely going in the right direction!

Drying out nicely!

Soot stains can be briefly be covered by stain blocking paint but it never lasts,
Re-covering with duplex plasterboard and skimming prevents the stains returning, it's also quite reasonable in cost.
