Had a callout to a local church in Ramsgate as there key was stuck in the lock and they were unable to turn or remove the key. Job sorted and new lock installed. Another happy customer.

Another night latch job!

Had a call today as a homeowner had put the night latch on the door and the door then slammed shut locking him out, had to micky mouse the lock as there was no letter box or other entry points. New lock fitted and another happy customer.

Yale digital locks, this is the second one this week that I have had to take out from Air B&B’s as they have gone faulty.
Please if you have these locks on your door, get them removed before they fail, as an emergency call out from a locksmith can be expensive.

A real tough one for me the other night, an Air B&B guest locked themselves out, they had left the key in the back of a 3 star high security lock with a composite auto locking door and no letter box, there was no way of getting in this way and the only other point of entry was the rear patio doors that had secure by design handles and 3 star rated locks also with key in the lock and to make things worse the lock on the primary door was faulty, unfortunately both these locks had to be destroyed to gain entry.

Points to learn from this is always have a thumb turn lock on your front door, always have a key safe with all your spare keys and never leave keys in locks.

Had yet another call to a property with an Ultion key stuck in the lock, as I have said many times these locks need to be serviced at least twice a year with graphite powder and NOT oiled with WD40 or the like. Needless to say I had to cut the key and replace the lock.

Another Pressure Job.

Another pressure call for me early this morning as a distressed son called and said an ambulance crew was outside his mothers home and needed to gain entry. Gained entry within 5 minutes of arriving on these very hard composite doors.

Failed door mech, new kit opened the door in seconds.

5 Lever Mortice.

Had a call today to open a locked and faulty 5 lever mortice lock as the key was missing. Identified the lock as a Union, decoded it with a plaster scene key and made a makeup key to open it and then replaced with new.

Customer had lost there keys to the garage door, so had to pick the lock and replace with new.

The bank job!

Nice little job today at the old HSBC bank in Ramsgate, reported faulty locks, asked to gain entry and replace locks for the builders.

Had a call to open a disused ATM building as they had lost the keys, bare in mind this door isn’t meant to be opened without the key, it took me a while but I got it open.

A tough one for me this afternoon, as I got a call from a builder’s firm to unlock 3 locked doors and then replace all 3 locks, as all the keys went missing. The hard part was, they were all 3 star high security locks and with this particular lock you have to pick open twice, once to unlock the door and then pick it again to remove the cylinder, so needles to say it took me some time.

Got called out to a local hotel in Margate this afternoon to supply and fit a new lock on a bedroom door, as the original electronic lock had failed.

Mystery job!

A strange one today as I was called out to a very old building, a convent no less and one of the rooms was locked and the nuns couldn’t open it, hence I got called out. The strange part is that there is only one key and the door was locked from the inside. How the door managed to lock itself is a mystery.

Seized Lock.

Had a call this afternoon as a customer couldn’t remove their key from an Ultion lock, as you can see from the photos, I had to cut the key and replace the lock, the Ultion locks are good locks, but they do need to be serviced as per manufactures advise especially when the sea is only 20M away or they will seize up like this one did.

NO PRESSURE!!!

Just had the call that every locksmith’s dread, and that a young mum had locked herself out of the house due to the wind slamming the door closed with her baby crawling around on its own. Worse still as every locksmith will tell you, the keys were on the other side of the lock, still they called the right locksmith as I managed to open the door with no damage, mum and baby are fine. 😅

Had a call out this morning at a very well know sports shop in Westwood cross, as they had snapped the key for the electric shutter. Job sorted.

Had to pick open several locks today at the old Christ church college, one of them had been partially drilled, so had to open that one destructively. All in all a good days picking.

Customer made the right decision today as they had lost their keys, even though they had spares, they had the old Yale rim lock replaced with new just in case. Nice to have an easy one for once.

Another dark evening and another lockout who had left their keys in the lock on the inside.

Christmas is coming and is always a busy time for many, including us locksmiths, as well as the season to be jolly it is also the season for high crime. Please be safe this Christmas and always check that you have locked your doors and windows securely and that you have your keys on you before you go out.

Our advice to you is if you have a temperamental or sticky lock get it changed before it stops working and causes a lockout, costing you an extra unnecessary expense at this already costly time of year.
