It was all about the bedroom storage last week. Built in to make the most of each of these alcove spaces. Gorgeous house, lovely clients but sooo many stairs. According to my phone I climbed the equivalent of 172 floors over 2 days! No gym membership needed for me. 😅😮‍💨

I did some work on my own home over the last couple of weekends, something I rarely manage. The old lath and plaster wall was crumbling, with the radiator askew and the switches taped on. Now we have a lovely new panelled wall painted with a colour I mixed from some old waste paint and the health and safety issues are sorted.

Guess what everyone got from me for Christmas. 😂 I managed to knock up a few planters and use up some off cuts the week before Christmas.

Last little job in place, now I’m off to watch Wonka with my youngest. As if I need an excuse to eat more chocolate at this time of year! 🍫

Fitted furniture for a utility/cloakroom, easing the transition from outdoors to interior. The very roomy, dresser style cupboard houses shoes up top and coats on a rail and hooks beneath. All clutter can be hidden away, the washing machine and tumble dryer now live behind matching doors with a sink unit opposite. made from British Columbia Pine aka Douglas Fir.

Lovely to see some more of my work on .house website. This library went through a couple of colour changes, I love the one they settled on.

It’s always a pleasure to work with adding to the beautiful art deco style they have created throughout the house.
This cabinet also houses a pull out tray for the printer as part of a home office set up. I had fun creating the details, echoing the handles in the feet and cornice.
The green edging, I mixed to match a vintage collection of green Bakelite pieces in the room.

Some far better pictures of the bench taken by in situ.

I made this walnut bench for a while ago. It has since been to the upholsterer’s and is back looking dressed to impress, swipe to see.

A slimline hallway cupboard in birch ply, housing fuse box, shoe rack and coat rack in limited space. Built in hand pulls mean no snagging yourself on handles on your way pass.

This window seat with sliding doors to access the storage space was made from an old table top. There was enough left over to make a smaller table top as well. The table frame was used for the runners. It’s so satisfying being able to create new pieces from old with as little wastage as possible. I was very pleased to have clients who believe in this ethos and had the vision to give it a go. .

Just completed some rather palatial library shelves to home a beloved book collection. They are primed ready for painting, hope to see them full soon.

This kitchen seating and storage for solves many problems in one. A fold down flap on the sofa front allows garden deck chairs to be easily stashed, the cupboard for kid’s toys and it all covers a radiator. The unit at the far end is open at the bottom to house the cat flap. The resident feline has already staked out his place in the warm, swipe to see. I look forward to seeing it with bespoke cushions fitted.

End of the first week back and no 2022 sum up from me, just finally remembering to post this little kitchenette I made for Haeckels HQ during the summer. Birch ply cabinets with Fenix worktop (protective cover still on in this photo).

I couldn’t post this before Christmas as it was a surprise present. A three drawer desk made from birch ply and walnut.

First job out of the new workshop. A whole wall of much needed storage for a house that has no loft space. The cupboards go right back into alcoves so they are really deep. Primed ready to decorate.

New workshop nearly up and running ready to start new jobs. The move was a slog and we were happy in the old place which is now being knocked down to make way for houses.
Feeling more positive now we’re in, clean slate and all that. We did have a bloody good sort out in the process.

An airing cupboard to fit in a lovely Georgian period house. I look forward to seeing it painted.

At the risk of doing myself out of a job I would just like to say that a new fitted kitchen is not always necessary. Here some very thoughtful clients of mine have created a beautiful kitchen from “brown furniture “ with just a few alterations to allow for modern conveniences. This type of antique furniture is usually of better quality and cheaper than ready made kitchen cabinets, gives the room real character and is a far more sustainable option. One of my planters made from recycled off cuts is standing in as a washing up brush holder by the sink only adding to the sustainability of this kitchen and of course allowing me a little plug of my work after all. 😉

Storage, bed and desk - all in one. I’m looking forward to seeing it painted and in use.

A cookbook reading, guitar playing nook. The perfect place to relax and gain inspiration for dinner.

I really enjoyed making this bench for a very musical family from ash and walnut with the seat made from a slab of English ash keeping the live edge. It sits perfectly in the entrance hallway of their lovely house. A good fit for the space and those who live there.
Now I’m off for a swim to cool down!

The library I built a couple of years ago has had a change of colour and looks fantastic. So nice to revisit projects and see them in use. This is for a household of book lovers, they apparently need more shelves! I approve obviously.

A collaboration between myself and , ply desk and drawers with powder coated steel frame. Another great design by . It’s extra tall so you can see through the window while sitting at the desk. A little bonus is that the top drawer makes a perfect dog bed, swipe to see.

Deep in paperwork, I’m missing being in the workshop today and the playful part of designing and making. These deco style handle options were fun. Bottom right is what we settled on.

I try to reduce waste as much as possible at Bespoke on Sea, using off cuts to make smaller sized objects such as the planters. Sawdust is a waste product I produce a fair amount of and often use it as a mulch on my garden so long as it’s from solid wood. I’ve now managed to grow mushrooms in some left after planing a load of ash. I mixed it with used coffee grounds, something we also produce a lot of at our workshop. 😉☕️.

A simple solution to an awkward space, stick some doors over it. These panelled doors are covering a boiler and washing machine housed in an alcove space. Swipe to see before.
