Carrie's Canines & Co
Mirfield based , animal lover striving to offer the best services and care for your pets.
Lovely and cloudy and cool now but it is due to warm up and the sun will show her face again ๐๐....ill judge each walk as I go today either shorter walks or drop ins or mix of both
I expected today to be a fairly quieter one due to a couple of cancelled walks due to owners homeworking and the hot weather but no, instead I have met a new beautiful boy joining the pack, seen another 2 again who join me this week and then met some bunnies for pet sitting and also 2 gorgeous kitties and 4 chickens also for pet sitting duties ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ๐ฅฐ
Morning!
โญ๏ธUnderstanding the difference between a home dog boarder and a sitterโญ๏ธ
We love helping dog guardians understand the Dog Pro world and what it entails so please share! ๐
As devoted dog guardians, we must make sure our doggos are happy and secure when weโre not around. Understanding the difference between a house sitter and a home dog boarder can help you make the perfect choice for your dog. Letโs break it down:
Dog Sitter:
๐Pops over to your place to look after your dog for long or short periods and will stay overnight if needed.
๐Often looks after your house too, from bringing in the post to watering the plants, on top of caring for your pet.
๐Perfect for dogs that prefer the comfort of their own home and routine.
๐Does NOT need a licence from the council
Home Dog Boarder:
๐Professionally licensed by the council and provides care in their own home.
๐Offers a welcoming and secure setting for your dog, away from your home.
๐Great for dogs that love to socialise with other dogs.
Choosing between a house sitter and a home dog boarder comes down to knowing your dog's personality and what will make you both feel most at ease while youโre away.
Be sure to ask for references and ask to see a current DBS check for somebody staying in your home and always ensure that a home dog boarder is properly licensed.
Yappily Dog Pros are ALL of the above you can check them out here ๐ www.yappily.co.uk
I love the sunshine , I really do but doing drop ins with the doggies means I'll be averaging on 31k steps a day to very minimal this week ....boo!! Haha
Luna having a go at one of the little enrichment games I have got whilst it's too hot for paws on the floor walkies ๐๐๐
(It will be washed after each use)

Superstar duo Max and Zena have had a fantastic week! Both strong dogs are walked separately, and they've been absolutely wonderful on their walks each time. They have a tendency to try to chase cats ( loke most doggies) , but they listened well when told "leave" and continued on their way. Good boy and girl! Max, in particular, is especially fond of his treats and plonks himself down in front of me ๐คฃ๐คฃ

New banner design....thoughts??
Am I missing anything to this ( before I order 2 banners) ๐๐๐
Hi everyone especially all the Pawrents of the gang I have booked in Monday and Tuesday ( message also sent direct)
I've been thinking ahead. As you can see, the weather on Monday and Tuesday is going to be very hot, which isn't ideal for our pooches. I'm trying to come up with alternative plans to keep them safe and cool in the meantime.
Here are the options I've considered:
1. Get in as many walks as possible early in the day. However, I need to balance this with the amount of time the dogs are left alone. Their well-being is my priority.
2. Switch to home visits for toilet breaks in the garden and some enrichment activities for mental stimulation, as I did on Thursday and Friday.
One dog I have on Monday needs a wash, and the owner has already prepared for this and asked me to wash her dog haha. Since the owner is disabled, I'm happy to help out.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.๐๐
Just what is needed between drop ins on a hot summers day
Strawberry ice cream milkshake
And I got cakes for afternoon treats haha
2 walks already done this morning...early doors before the blast of heat.
I love it but the doggies DO NOT
The remainder of the day are looking most likely to be a drop in for toilet breaks and enrichment time ๐๐๐ฉต๐ฉต
With more drop-ins and shorter earlier walks possibly likely next week with the heat, I just ordered some fantastic interactive toys for the dogs to enjoy for mental stimulation.
I'm excited to try them out and see who figures them out the fastest!
When the hot weather brings more drop in visits for doggy safety ( need sound for this haha)
Love this girl she is a beauty
Xx
Loving these from Aldi for in the car on the crates ๐๐
With Air con and good ventilation in Dotty the dog transporter and now these any pooches travelling will be lovely and cool ๐๐๐ฉต๐ฉต
As the weather improves (finally), I'll assess each day. If itโs too warm for the pets, I'll speak to each owner and consider alternative activities, such as:
- Changing the walk to a drop-in visit with garden toilet breaks and bringing enrichment activity games for mental stimulation.
- Scheduling earlier walks when it's cooler, or later walks for the same reason.
- Opting for shaded woodland walks if at all possible.
This way, I can ensure the pets' comfort and safety while still providing them with care and exercise.
Another announcement alert!!!
My solo doggies DO NOT get left out for adventure days either.
I will be looking at this too ๐๐
This will be a max of 3 hours in the day ( not including pick up and drop off) somewhere they can run, play, relax...anything they want to do without fear of other dogs or humans either way ill ensure of that as their safety is priority.
This will be a bit more I'm afraid at ยฃ45 a dog but this covers fuel as well and also includes snacks etc
( it may sound alot but this is less than minimum wage including travel and costs)
An adventure day is coming up soon and will take place on a weekend. ๐
The event will accommodate a maximum of 4 dogs for at least 4 hours, not including pick-up and drop-off times. Snacks and water will be provided.
The cost is going to be ยฃ25 per dog. Please comment if your interested.
Been having a bit of a go at some fab photos this week so far of some of the gang.....I won't lie but they are all gorgeous pooches ๐๐ฉต๐๐ฉต

Carries Canines and Co Perfect for those who have extra energy to burn, this could be joining an hour group walk of fun and play and the rest is a solo walk or joining the next group.
I apologize for bringing this up, but as a small sole trader, last-minute cancellations OR non-payments significantly impact my business. When you secure a spot each week and then cancel at the last minute, it prevents another dog from taking that space and results in lost income for me.
I understand that holidays and other events come up, but repeated cancellations mean lost revenue that affects my ability to cover my own expenses.
I hope you understand my position. Thank you for your cooperation.
Happy Father's day to all those pawsome dad's out there

Very proud of one of my boys in the Carrie's Canines & Co pack
Winner with 3rd place for best eyes at the RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire dog show.
I can't deny it...he has amazing eyes ....the eyebrows are brilliant too ๐๐๐ฅฐ along with his cheeky Elvis grin we get occasionally too haha
Well done Bobby boy, you deserve it

If you're a dog owner facing financial challenges, please don't hesitate to ask for help.
Even if you work full-time and find it hard to cover your dog's needs, such as food or daytime walks, or if you're unwell or facing any other difficulties, don't stress about it alone.
Feel free to message me. I'm happy to help however I can, whether it's letting your dog out for a bathroom break or taking them for a quick walk around the block or helping with a bit of food for them.
All dogs need exercise and companionship, and I understand that the cost of living can make this difficult for some owners.
This week was fun, but it had some sad moments too. It was Kodi's last week with me as he moves to a new home too far away for me to continue walking him ๐.
This also means I have space in my group walks again, so please get in touch!

Note to all my doggy owners
Ticks are currently a significant issue for our dogs, and I'm closely monitoring high-risk areas, including Dewsbury Country Park.
After each walk, I'm inspecting every dog and have the necessary tools to remove any ticks found.
Please ensure their flea treatments are up to date.
Thank you,
Carrie
