This week our wellbeing our Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions took part in the Glyndwr University Wellbeing Festival. The champions presented a speech about ways to improve wellbeing for students. They asked the audience to consider how much homework students get, especially younger students. There were stakeholders from many organisations in the audience.

Next Friday, 12 July, is charity day at the Alun with lunch extended for activities to raise money for our school charity - Guide Dogs for the Blind. Students will be able to buy an ice cream watch staff netball, compete in 5 a side football, play FIFA or try a range of other stalls. Students are asked to bring change on the day (20p, 50p etc) to ensure they can take part.

Road Safety Wales is highlighting the law surrounding e-bikes and e-scooters. Some people may have purchased an e-bike or e-scooter, unaware that they could be breaking the law when riding it. We are sharing the information so that collisions and injuries can be avoided.

Llongyfarchiadau to Rhian, Ava, Scarlett, Freya and Niamh from Y9 who performed on Sat/Sun with Whitton Morris School of Dance and Philharmonic Youth Choir.

There were a range of performances including ballet, tap, modern and musical theatre. After a few months of rehearsal their hard work paid off last weekend.

A great weekend at Condover Hall for our Y9/10 netball squads. The girls enjoyed some adventure activities and played some great netball. They were an absolute pleasure and a credit to the school and their families. Special thanks to Mrs Whittaker and Mrs Jenkins for accompanying the girls and to Castell Alun for accompanying us.

At the end of last week some of our Y12 students went to Talacre for their Biology field trip looking at the Biology of the sand dunes. A great day out with some really interesting biology studied.

We are very proud of Alunite Mali

Following her outstanding performance at this yearā€™s Live on the Square we are absolutely delighted to have Mali Sigsworth performing for you at this yearā€™s Carnival, Sunday 7th July.

Mali is currently studying towards her ā€˜Aā€™ Levels with aspirations of attending University next year and working towards a degree in agriculture. Music and performing has always been something that she has enjoyed, currently performing at a grade 8 level in singing. Mali will be on stage 2.00pm (approx) on Kendricks Field, Maes Bodlonfa Park, CH7 1DR

A great day for Alunite Faye who yesterday competed in the Dance World Cup and was crowned World Champion in the Childrenā€™s Lyrical Solo!!!! šŸŽ–ļøšŸ†šŸ„‡šŸ„‡šŸ†šŸŽ–ļø. Wales' first medal of the competition

She also came 6th in the Childrenā€™s Show Dance Solo with her modern jazz piece. She has now been invited to the gala to perform again as a champion on Tuesday.

You would need to be free on 4/5th July between about 1.30 and 3pm.
