Is there anyone who doesn't like to see estimates in an auction catalogue? It's like price tags, if you're selling it, price it & and if you're auctioning it, estimate it! We've found that if it doesn't have a price tag, many people won't ask and in an auction, if there's no estimate, why would I waste my time sitting though 200 lots just to find out it's not in my price range? 🤷
You have to be hardcore to sit through a three day auction... It's only for brave, the foolhardy or the rich!
Afternoon everyone. We've had an unexpectedly brilliant weekend (the balloon festival usually kills trade) so thank you to all the splendid people who sought us out. We had a chat with a lovely lady yesterday, a first time visitor, who had been following us online but hadn't been in before. She said she wasn't expecting the shop to be the way it was but seemed delighted with what she found. So, tonight, we've done a quick video of the shop so you know what to expect. Light and spacious ✔️ On site parking ✔️ Customer loo ✔️ Wheelchair friendly ✔️ One level shopping ✔️ 50 traders ✔️ Huge variety ✔️ Lots of choice ✔️ You can find us at 8 Moore Street, Kingsley, Northampton, NN2 7HX. We're open between 10 and 5 every day except Sunday which is 11 until 4. We close for 12 days from Monday 26th August to Friday 6th September inclusive, otherwise we're open 7 days a week. Being a shop owner, we've seen some sights, but the one that sticks out is the man who came to sell us a wardrobe. He just turned up in a hatch back with two wooden scaffold boards sticking out the boot and the full length wardrobe resting on them! 🤷🤦
As Antiques dealers, we are amazing at fitting 2 tonnes of stock into a 1 tonne van, but every so often there's a squeaky bum moment and possibly a second, unplanned trip! 🤣
The moment you receive the auction invoice, the colour drains from your face, you look to the heavens and wonder "how the hell did I spend that much on so many lots when I only came for the fire screen?"
Admit it, most of us have been there. That thousand yard stare and feeling of despair when your next lot to bid on is miles away!
