Grant money anyone?

At Weston Favell store we are appealing for local schools, community groups and charities to apply for a Stronger Starts grant.

To appear in our Jan- March 2025 round of voting where customer use the blue tokens available to vote for who they would like to receive the most funding.
Being in the vote means you will receive one of three amounts. £500, £1,000 or up to £1,500.

After a chat and hearing about all they do to support young people in Northampton, I was so glad I could offer them some Lego sets, card games, action figures, activities and even hairbrushes to help.

I was able to offer a few refreshments yesterday to help out Spencer Contact and their Big Sale! Happening until Saturday this week they have some great items at amazing prices. Go and have a look about - toys, clothes, furniture, tvs, tableware, etc etc

It felt good to get out and join the litter picking group last week with some of the great Northants litter wombles and Growing Together Northampton . It is unfortunate just how much flytipping and litter there is but emphasises how much this group is needed and the great work they do. Always welcoming new people to join!

9 of us Northants Litter Wombles at the canto Growing Together Northampton group today. Flytipping was awful, so lots of reporting today. Joined by our Park Ranger and the community lead from Tesco Weston Favell Community , and most importantly some self care afterwards at Canto Cafe. Please comment below if you would like to join a weekly womble group. We run one on a Monday from Blackthorn and one on a Wednesday from Canto Cafe (Round Lings/Lumbertubs area).

I really enjoyed my visit to the forest school at Cogenhoe Primary School, to hear all about the resources the Stronger Starts grant money was able to help with. There are currently 3 more worthy causes in the stronger starts vote at Tesco Weston Favell that will benefit from the grant money just as much as Cogenhoe Primary School, so remember to grab your blue token on the self-service tills and checkouts and read what projects need your support!

I've recently been catching up with previous recipients of our stronger starts grants.

I recently spoke to Kathryn at Growing Together Northampton who told me about their mission to ensure children at their blackthorn good neighbours nursery receive healthy nutritious meals.

It was lovely being able meet with Paul from SENDS4DAD after being rewarded a £1,500 grant from our Stronger Starts scheme! we also spoke about the upcoming Comic Con they have planned on Saturday 18th, their free comic themed day of fun with characters, games and face painting. The Stronger Starts grant will help support more days like this and other activity groups for SEND families to enjoy. we can't wait to hear more about how the money helps. thanks to all who took part and voted with the blue tokens!

I completed a cake delivery this morning and stopped for a cuppa at the Growing Together Northampton coffee morning. Hope they were all enjoyed! Coffee morning every Thursday 10am-12pm

Lovely to have Deafconnect in store today. Come by and say hello to the lovely team for useful information and support about hearing loss, and learn all about the social groups and training they host

Went to visit Growing Together Northampton yesterday to discover more about what they offer in the heart of Blackthorn and the community of east northampton.

I also joined in with their weekly litter pick! They would really love to welcome more people into this group to help clear up the area around the community centre, play areas and shop. If you can spare a bit of time on a Monday afternoon between 1pm and 3pm they would love to meet you. Tea and biscuits back at the community centre after! 🍪☕️

I love their idea of encouraging bright socks because that's what the chromosomes look like. So I embraced this in our display.

Some super Tesco staff joined the dedicated Northants litter wombles this week for a tidy up around the centre. Thanks for everyone who joined in, a job well done.

We had a great time at the weekend celebrating the golden grant! It's was lovely to see everyone so enthusiastic! A big thank you for everyone who joined in. The cakes from gardners bakery were delicious too! That's £5,000 to a great cause
