🩺Veterinary Nursing Careers at Hollybank 🩺

Meet Charley, one of our lovely student veterinary nurses who has taken the time to tell us about her experience on placement at Hollybank.

As Charley continues her studies, we have no doubt that she is going to continue to develop and thrive as a veterinary nurse.

If you are interested in a placement at Hollybank we currently work alongside Harper Adam’s University and Reasheath College University in supporting their students on placement.

Read about Charley’s experience at www.hollybankvets.co.uk

🐾☀️HEATSTROKE ☀️🐾. We are of course grateful for some sunshine and hopefully warmer days ahead. However, warmer weather does put our pets at increasing risk of developing heatstroke. It’s important to remind ourselves of the signs of heatstroke, how to prevent it and what we should do should it occur. Please visit our website for more detailed information and guidance on heatstroke. www.hollybankvets.co.uk

Pet travel 🧳 What is an Animal Health Certificate (AHC)?
Since January 2021 rules for travelling with your pets to the EU have changed. There are a number of requirements to be able to travel to the EU with your pet; they must be microchipped, have a valid rabies vaccine and an AHC or valid passport, parasite prevention is also strongly recommended 🪱
Head to our website to find out more about these requirements https://hollybankvets.co.uk/?p=7283
(Rules for travel outside of the EU may vary between countries so you are recommended to research individual travel rules in advance - the https://www.gov.uk/taking-your-pet-abroad website is very useful for up-to-date information)

Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month 💙🩵
⭐️Protect the Title ⭐️
Registered veterinary nurses (RVNs) are trained, highly skilled and dedicated professionals. However, the title ‘veterinary nurse’ is currently not protected by law. This means that anyone (regardless of any training or experience) can call themselves a veterinary nurse. Protecting the title not only protects registered veterinary nurses, it also protects the employer, the pet owner and most importantly the pet.
The BVNA are supported in their ‘Protect the Title’ campaign by the British Veterinary Association (BVA) and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
All of our nurses at Hollybank are RVNs or Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs) working towards their qualifications. Here’s what our vet Helen has to say about Hollybank’s nurses 💙🩵
Head to our website to read what some of our other vets, reception and admin team had to say about the nurses and how they are a vital part of the team 🐾 https://hollybankvets.co.uk/?p=7712

Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month 🩵
Meet our Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs) 👩🏼‍🏫
You will find our SVNs in light blue tops and in photo order we have Charley, Clare, Charlie, Jess & Jess!
There are a few different ways to become an RVN but all SVNs must complete a minimum of 1800 hours in a veterinary placement. Here at Hollybank we currently have SVNs on their sandwich year from Harper Adams University and Reaseheath. Each SVN is appointed an RVN that has been trained to be a Clinical Coach, to support them through their placement and help them complete their Nursing Progress Log (NPL). All of our SVNs past and present work hard completing their training and some have even come back to us as fully qualified RVNs! 👩🏼‍⚕️

One of our lovely and very kind clients left some flowers and chocolates with the cleaner at our Winnington branch on Saturday 9th March.

We sadly don’t know who dropped them off and have spent the last week trying to work it out! We of course would like to thank them for their kindness and are hoping they might spot this post.

Please let us know if these were from you 😊

Happy 15th Birthday Hollybank!

Hollybank Vets opened its doors on 2nd March 2009 - fifteen amazing years ago! In that time we have had the privilege to treat the pets of Cheshire (and beyond!) and get to know some wonderful people. We have known (and loved!) some animals through their entire lives; others we have been honoured to see at the start or sadly the end of their journey.

Thank you all for helping to make Hollybank Vets such a special place - and here's to the next fifteen!

Richard & Helen and all the Hollybank Team xx
