The Ruddy Gardener
Unable to look after your outdoor space? Get the Ruddy Gardener to sort it out! High quality, great value, friendly service.
The Ruddy Gardener is Graham Moffatt:
After 30 years working in the IT industry, I quit the rat race for a more rewarding life. I love the outdoors, being active and recycling, so when I’m not running, coaching or riding my bike, you’ll find me tending my allotment in Ruddington. I’ve got over 20 years experience of growing fruit, veg, and flowers, pruning hedges and trees and collecting sheds (I do love a good shed).
The Ruddy Gardener is now hibernating until Spring. Thanks for your support this year and happy Christmas. See you on the other side.

I'm a lucky guy. I set up a gardening business last year to help pay the bills following my early retirement. It was very successful and I met loads of great people. After a winter break I'm back to gardening but on a more limited basis - to make sure I have the time to enjoy retirement and do the things I love (see picture!). So apart from around a dozen regular customers, I'm afraid I'm pretty much booked up. However, if you need green-fingered help, please still do get in touch and I can add you to my waiting list. Thanks for your support.
After a hard day of lawnmower wrangling there’s nothing the Ruddy Gardener enjoys more than a good beer. Graham has now taken this a step further by helping out Nick at the rather wonderful Hopology Beer Shop in West Bridgford. Why not pop in for some tasty IPA and pruning tips?
It's like a jungle sometimes...
Thank you to all the lovely folk who have supported me over the last three months. Because of you, I've got more requests for work than you can shake a stick at. Hopefully as summer draws to a close, the regular maintenance jobs will spread out allowing me to work through my waiting list. Autumn is also a good time to tackle those out of control hedge situations. So if your buddleia has gone bonkers or your wisteria has turned wild, please do get in touch and let me tame it...
The Ruddy Gardener’s Covid isolation period is over (desperately bad luck that this coincided with the Olympics) and he’s now back in the gardens of Rushcliffe.
Apart from cheering on Team GB, 10 days at home allowed some much needed tlc of the allotment. The sunflowers are opening, the bananas are still not dead and the courgettes have turned a funny shape…
Thank you to all you lovely folk out there who have made my first month of trading a huge success. I've currently got more work than you can shake a stick at (not helped by having to self isolate for 10 days...) so my apologies if you've been put on the waiting list!
Whilst I may not be able to fit you all in for your summer garden makeover or maintenance, I'm happy to book you in for Autumn/Winter jobs so do still get in touch. Perhaps you have an overgrown patio, or an out-of-control hedge situation? If so, get the Ruddy Gardener to sort it out! Meanwhile enjoy the Olympics.
Who knew there was a pergola under the ivy cave?!
10 hours of hard work by the Ruddy Gardener and son to demolish a massive antique shed and replace with a lovely new rot-free version. No snails were hurt in this transformation!
My “office” for the afternoon. There are worse places to work… Cleared a gazillion roots out of the bed and the horse ate the fence!

Banana Watch
I’ve got chills, they’re multiplying! Still not dead yet and now has a friend. Bought another from Lidl (Last one folks - “when they’re gone, they’re gone”).
News of the Ruddy Gardener is spreading! Stopped at the rather wonderful The Bottle Top for a cheeky post-ride pint (or 4) and look who's in the window! You know where I am if you need me.
Banana plant update - not dead yet!
With the support of the lovely New Enterprise Allowance folk, the Ruddy Gardener should be officially trading in the next few days. Please do get in touch if your garden needs some tlc. In the meantime, I’ve been honing my green-fingered skills by tidying up the allotment. The first sweetcorn and cauliflowers are in with more growing in the greenhouse. I’m even trying a banana plant experiment (from good old Lidl!). Watch this space for progress…
The Ruddy Gardener is emerging from his Covid hibernation and will be available to titivate your outdoor space from June.
I’ve been an allotment holder in Ruddington for the last 20 years and have developed a range of skills and experience which I’m happy to put to use to take care of all your gardening needs, including:
- Mowing and edging lawns
- Keeping trees and hedges in order
- Planting and weeding
- Shed and fence care
So whether you want a good tidy up, regular maintenance or anything else garden-related, give the Ruddy Gardener a call on 07482 016116, or drop me a message.
