The 3 star Hotel Smolian with its lovely swimming pool is a popular choice for a best value summer holiday in Bulgaria.

The miles long sandy beach is 400 metres away from Hotel Smolian. There is plenty to entertain the whole family along the seaside promenade. Good value water sports are available for everyone.

The family run hotel is located in the western part of the well known Sunny Beach summer resort. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the resort centre offering easy access to the numerous shops and bars.

Looking for a honeymoon destination or a romantic getaway?
Further to my post yesterday, the Agapi Beach Resort in Crete had the amazing Premium Sea View rooms.
Based on the 4th & 5th floors of the main building these have amazing views of the sea and pool.

If you get a corner room then you have a large window opposite the bed so you could sit in bed with a coffee (tea & coffee making facilities included) to a fantastic view of the sea.

Hey everyone! I'm back from my hols in Crete. 😎Had a lovely 10 days staying at the Agapi Beach Resort near Heraklion.
Let me tell you about it and how you can book your stay through me. (all photo's are mine taken while there).
Sorry for longer post, but wanted to cover all areas of the hotel.

It was just me and hubby staying at this premium all inclusive resort (AI), We had a garden view bungalow, we could also see and hear the sea from our room.

As this is only an AI hotel there were no wrist bands to wear unlike many other AI hotels. After checking in we were given details of the Wi-Fi and how to download their app. The app gives you all the information you need like times of the restaurants and bars, food and drink included and what's extra, the entertainment programme what's on and where, for example aqua gym, volleyball, water polo, darts, yoga, dance and more. The app is a great idea.

The hotel once a week does a Cretan cooking lesson, places are limited so you need to reserve. It was good fun as we made Cretan Pies with greens! You get involved and learn about how Cretan way of cooking. This was one of the many things that drew me to this hotel, as this is something different to do, for free, offered by the hotel. They also do an olive oil tasting, but that started after we left.

We also booked an a la carte meal which you can reserve in one of 3 restaurants, the Taverna or Italian on site or the local restaurant, about a 15min walk from the hotel. We chose the one off site, Petousis Restaurant. The food was lovely, the 2 of us were able to choose 2 starters each, 1 salad between us, 1 main course each and 1 drink each included (subsequent drinks are chargeable). We were also given some local Raki, enough for at least 2 shots each (I had one but personally not keen on Raki!) then a dessert to share and a little fresh fruit on a platter was all given to us and included as part of our AI package and no charge. There was so much food we couldn't eat it all, felt so bad leaving some of the lovely main course!

Food at the hotel was good, with a few themed nights in the main restaurant, a Cretan corner with local foods, a small kids section. Good choices and varied for lunch and dinner.
There are 3 restaurants on site for lunch and snacks too.

The hotel have 3 pools: main pool, heated pool (mainly families seemed to use this) and a small kids pool.

The beach is just a walk through the grounds to a lovely sandy beach. The sea has a shingle seabed. There are sunbeds & umbrellas on the beach for hotel guests, plus a beach bar.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Big smiles even if busy they had time for you. Reception can also book excursions for you.
There is a bus stop outside the hotel where you can easily get into Heraklion and the airport. From Heraklion you can also get a bus to Knossos (get a day ticket it's cheaper!)

There is a Turtle Pond near reception. Also a Cat Café, which is a small sheltered area where food is put for the resident cats!

This is a fab hotel for couples, families, honeymooners (the Premium Sea View room is amazing, see my next post!)
