I love to point mums with a malpositioned baby to the spinning babies website. Especially those with a breech. So many of my inHale mums have been able to move their little ones before birth using their techniques.

And they are so right with this post with regards to joining pregnancy yoga early on and finding a wonderful and supportive doula for your birth.

And this is why I offer a full continuation of support from the first weeks of pregnancy, throughout your birth and all the way to your baby's first birthday.
That way you never feel alone.
I got you.

Sorry for my silence over the past couple of weeks. I've been mostly off grid having an amazing time in Florida with my family.
But I'm back, tanned, a little jet lagged, but ready to dive back into all of my classes next week to catch up with you all and meet some new faces.

I'll be hitting the admin tomorrow so keep an eye out for your welcome messages from me over the next couple of days.
And if you haven't secured your space, I believe there are a few sessions that haven't yet sold out. So now is the time to join us whether you are expecting, or wanting to play and bond with your little one.

We often joke in class about how much you need to pack for holidays with a baby ๐Ÿ‘ถ. We discuss learning to play car tetris.

I'm here to tell you it gets easier when they get older..... Jokes.. This is the actual state of our car right now ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿ™„. Maybe we can pack light when they move out ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Wishing anyone else who is holidaying this week luck with cramming everything (including the kids) in.

That's a wrap on my Antenatal and Baby classes for this term ๐ŸŽ‰

We've had so much fun over the weeks, and I've shed so many tears saying goodbye this week to wonderful Mummies and babies who are off on new adventures, returning to work and starting nursery ๐Ÿ˜ญ, I wish them the best of luck, I'm going to miss you.

I'm off for a few weeks break now with my own little family. Then we'll be back for a short term before the summer break. So if you would like to join us be quick, Barrowby Wriggly Daisies is already sold out but I do still have spaces on my other courses and venues for now.

See you week commencing 17th June.

A b**b and bottle buffet can mean only one thing.... It's week 6 of my inHale - Birth to Baby course. After my expectant couples have learnt all they need to know about birthing options/techniques and baby care over the last 5 weeks. Tonight is dedicated to feeding, soothing and the 4th trimester.
Then all they have to do is sit back and wait for their precious little ones to arrive ๐Ÿ˜.

Maybe you and your partner would like to join us on an upcoming term?

My not so little Bean turned 14 on Monday. The years have flown and I am so in awe of the wonderful, kind and loving young man that he is.

The first picture was taken around 24 hours after his birth when everything was so very raw and I rember this moment so vividly all these years later.
I had experienced birth trauma that I hadn't even begun to process, my body was physically wrecked after a long labour and so many stitches holding me together.
I hadn't slept in 3 days between birth, hospital visiting hours and a new baby who had demanded to be fed continuously through his first night.

The photo was taken at around 6am as he finally slept (unsafely on a pillow on his side, but I wasn't about to move him now that he was finally peaceful) with me watching him like a hawk, counting down the minutes until I could escape the hospital and get the help and support I desperately craved at home from my family.

I want to hug that poor, broken, new mum that I was in 2010 and tell her everything would be alright. That she would eventually make peace with this overwhelming experience (with the help of rewind therapy which she would eventually offer to others).
I would tell her that what she experienced was not how things should be.
I would show her how she would draw strength from this time to not only research, practice for and experience a wonderfully positive birth a few years later. But to use this knowledge and power to set up her own business in 2014 in order to help hundreds of other families plan and realise their own positive birth experiences (and to help heal those who sadly didn't).

I am so very different from the person I was then. And my son is certainly very different, although he's still a gorgeous pillow thief (see the 2nd picture taken yesterday ๐Ÿ˜) But the memories will always remain.
Your births will shape who you become, that's why investing in good, evidence based, antenatal education is so very important.
I have included the message that my wonderful friend sent to me on Monday to remind me of why inHale exists.

Looks like we are stuck with the parking issues for a little while longer until the ground dries out and the container can finally be moved.
As always try to avoid parking on the grass if at all possible for my classes in Saxondale.

Hayley X

You may have spotted the storage container in the village hall car park, actually you canโ€™t miss it!

Seems it will be staying there for a little while longer, at least until the soggy ground behind the village hall has dried out and itโ€™s safe for the crane to lift it into place. The village hall drains run along that section of land so extra care needs to be taken not to damage them whilst the ground is still soft. So fingers crossed for a spell of sunny dry weather.

We appreciate that the container is taking up valuable space so if the car park is full then please park in the lay-bys along the back road and not on the grass verges to avoid damaging them. Thank you.

If you have ever been in one of my antenatal classes you will have heard me explain the pain gateway theory, in order to help you to understand the science behind using a TENS machine or massage to dull the sensations of labour.
I often talk of the many nerve messages from all over your body, trying to race to your brain like little people running a relay and how many will be stopped by the pain gateways which only allow the strongest most dominant sensations to reach the brain.

I explain it in this easy to understand way so that it makes sense to all. But as I do, just know that these pictures are flashing up in my head ๐Ÿ˜Š. These are the nervous system relay guys that I am talking about, trying to get their messages to be heard by the brain, some succeeding and some being held back by the gateways so that you can remain comfortable.

The reason for these images living rent free in my head is a wonderful 80s kids TV show about the body called Once Upon a Time - Life. I used to love this show as a child. It was very educational but also so fun at the same time. It is very likely the reason I teach my antenatal classes with the same ethos.

๐ŸŒผ The Daisies grow... and grow... and grow
High into the sky ๐ŸŒค๏ธ
They turn their heads to see the sun โ˜€๏ธ
And curl up tight when the day is done ๐Ÿ˜ด

There were so many beautiful daisies growing on the green that surrounds our lovely Gamston Village Hall today. It was like a glorious carpet of white and yellow in the little bit of spring sunshine.

There were even more beautiful Wriggly Daisies inside the hall in our baby yoga and sensory class. Where we enjoyed singing, moving, stretching, exploring toys and textures that linked to our story theme for today which was "That's not my Fairy". All the while mums enjoyed building new friendships over drinks and snacks.

Why not come and join us next term?

I love receiving reviews. It makes my heart happy to hear how much people enjoy my session and how much they get out of them.

Obviously constructive criticism would also be welcome when needed ๐Ÿ˜.

But not only do reviews do wonders for my confidence ๐Ÿ˜‰. Their real benefit is to help other parents make an informed decision on the right antenatal course or baby class provider for them.

I have amassed quite a few reviews over the 10 years that I have been in business. But since most people are in the throws of early parenthood when they complete their sessions with me, I understand that it's hard to find time to have a wee in peace let alone type out some feedback.

However it does mean the world to my small business to have up to date reviews in order to appear relevant on socials and to the almighty Google algorithms.

So if you have attended my classes and you magically find a spare moment in your busy day. I would love to hear a few words from you either on my page under reviews.

Our enhanced 24-Hour Home Births Service has resumed.

From today mothers to be in Nottingham can benefit from the service following a temporary suspension.

The service meets a commitment made in 2023 to a sustainable 24-hour service which meets the needs of local birthing people and their families following a listening exercise with service users.

An initial suspension of the service was agreed in January whilst a review was carried out into how the service was staffed and supported, taking into consideration the changing patterns locally and nationally to develop a model that is sustainable and offers clarity to both patients and staff.

A decision has now been taken to resume with a new model with effect from Wednesday 27 March 2024.

Sharon Wallis, Director of Midwifery at NUH said: โ€œWe have always been committed to a full home birth service as we know it is the right thing to do for our mums to be, however we also have a responsibility to ensure any service can be safely staffed and sustainable. I want to thank local birthing people and their families for their patience while we have put plans in place, and am really pleased that we have been able to now offer a 24-hour service for those individuals that meet the criteria for a home birth.

โ€œOur Home Birth team lead joined the Trust in January and we continue to recruit to a full team, and in the interim I am grateful to colleagues from our community and hospitals teams who have committed to additional shifts to enable us to offer the service now.โ€

If you want any further information, please talk to your midwife or consultant obstetrician.

On Thursday I am scheduled to have a operation on this part of my anatomy.

Those who have been in my classes over the last 20 months will know that my voice has been an ongoing issue since Sep of 2022 (yes these are vocal cords... What did you think they were? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคฃ).

Finally the pesky polyp (the lump sticking out of one cord in this picture) that causes me to lose my voice or sound weird, will be removed. I will have to endure complete vocal rest, then very limited talking for a couple of weeks... if you know me, you know how hard this is going to be ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

Only two more antanatal classes to teach with my current voice before I hopefully return new and improved next term.
That said if I still sound rough after Easter, please ignore me as getting back to full health will take between 6 to 8 weeks.

If you need to talk with me in the next couple of weeks, you can either phone me at any point tomorrow, or else message me via here or WhatsApp for the foreseeable as I won't be able to hold a phone conversation for a while.

**these are not my vocal cords, but mine look very similar**

If you are birthing in Lincolnshire and wanting to use a pool then you have some great choices available to you.

Water can make such a difference to your birthing experience.

Hayley xx

Happy 10th birthday to the birthing pool at Lincoln!

Choosing to give birth in water can increase relaxation and reduce the need for medical intervention and is used by almost one in three women for pain relief during labour... amazing!

I can 100% recommend the birthing pool at Lincoln. I used it in 2017 with my son Eddie (although I had to get out for his actual birth ๐Ÿ˜€). The pool is so warm and has great views of the cathedral

You can also hire birth pools for home births;

This is such an important topic of conversation, one I feel strongly about and one I always discuss in my antenatal classes.

Induction is offered to a huge proportion of my clients now and the stories I hear about the coercion that ensues when parents choose to make an informed decision and turn down the invitation is both upsetting and infuriating because I know the knock on effect or can have on their Birthing hormones.

I highly recommend you read this blog if you are pregnant. And buy all of sarawickham.com's books on induction so that you have a good understand of the facts.

As someone who felt more than a little miffed that I had been awake for two nights birthing and had to spend yet another night awake alone; looking after a newborn that had no idea what day or night was whilst also nursing a large number of stitches on the postnatal ward. While my husband was sent home to sleep at the end of visiting hours.
I therefore realise that this seemingly small change is absolutely invaluable as a first step in helping these new little families share the load and begin to bond.

I know a lot of my clients will benefit from these new chairs ๐Ÿ˜โค๏ธ.

It was a great start to our Birth to Baby course tonight with 6 wonderful, expectant couples getting comfortable in my kitchen as we covered the hormones of birth, how to help and hinder their release, how the uterus works during labour, relaxation anchors, thinking about how position can make a difference to birth and we also learnt the first of our 3 beneficial breathing techniques.

So much knowledge covered already in just 2.5 hours. And we have 5 more weeks left.

Oh and of course there were plenty of snacks to keep everyone going.

Maybe you would like to join us on a future term.
